SODBUSTERS... bust 'em out, work 'em hard and show 'em off

When I got soaked for 3 days in Spain so did this one.

I was horrified to find rust running out of the frame,I like a user but that was not good.

First I washed it,then used tooth paste and kitchen towel to get it as clean as I could, the only oil I had was motorcycle chain oil which I tried to get into the pivots (its sticky and makes a mess).

I dried it as best I could, when I got back to England one of the first thing's I did was throw my clothes in the wash machine and then have another go at this.

I used domestic metal polish and solvo autsol, with, lots of Victorinox oil on the pivots over and over to make sure no more rust.

It looks ready to go get some more patina to me. 😍

This realy is one of GECs finest.

Agreed I liked em when they where the low cost workers now people collect them so leas readily available.

I saw his big brother at the knife show yesterday for the first time,I had no idea just how big and beefy they where.

I regret not getting it now.

Johnnythefox Johnnythefox Right, but I think a sizeable number of these Farm & Field types ARE in regular use compared to some of the more, er, delicate or sought after knives.

That big version you mention is a monster, too big for my carry tastes but an impressive knife alright

Thanks, Will

This post has definitely cured my curiosity about the lambsfoot I keep seeing people talk about
It's a British sodbuster :p

They always have to do things differently in England don't they 😂

So yeah sodbusters
I picked up a yeller delrin CV sodbuster Jr.
And well I just never took to it despite it being a better pocket carry size.

I was put off the stainless versions for a good while because of cases tru-sharp reputation

But after losing my Leatherman I was stuck trying different knives out for EDC as a work carry. The large soddie we sold in our case display caught my eye.
I wouldn't pocket carry it because of it's size but I remember thinking I could throw it in a belt pouch and wear it on my hip.
I also deal alot with gas and oil and dropping things on concrete and hard tile flooring and it occured to me that large soddie WOULD be pretty ideal for me

Large and pinchable, basically unnoticed on my belt, stainless so I wouldn't have to fight the heat/humidity and sweat of the Mississippi summers and plastic delrin laughs at gas or oil or being dropped on concrete.

In addition the handle is MUCH more comfortable for me and I really like the sharper/pointier tip on the stainless as ground blade over the much softer/rounder cv tip.

All in all I am really pleased.

Oh and since my birthday is dec 21st

The wife gave me a budget. I replaced my Leatherman (merry Christmas) and I bought this (happy birthday) and came in like $3 under said budget

Hehe

Does anyone know how the pivot is assembled on the Case delrin sodbusters? You see a large brass circle at the pivot area, seemingly too big to go through the blade, so they must use headed pins? Press together, or threaded and ground flush? I have a nice small Case but it has excessive blade play. I’d like to know what’s in there before trying anything to tighten it up.
