I might be able to answer this.

My friend, Don Roley, is one of very few legitimate actual ninja in America. He lived in Japan for much of his life, knows the History better than most, and they send him ancient ninja scrolls to properly translate into English, since without extensive training to interpret the proper meaning of phrases used to discuss certain techniques they'd be impossible to accurately translate.

Anyway, a few years back, he went on a long rant about the "ninja to" short sword, saying that no such sword was ever used by the ninja, and it seemed to have originated in the early 1980s where they were sold in magazine ads and used in many low budget action movies.

But yours is not a "true" 1980s style ninja to because it lacks the square guard for ninja to "climb over walls" or a sheath with a breathing hole at the tip to use as a "snorkel" for amphibious infiltration. LMAO

Don actually goes after freaks like that.

Fake ninjers (like Frank Dux, Radford Davis, Stephen Hayes) are generally ignored until they begin harrassing, cyberbullying, and threatening innocent people... but a shocking number of nerds prancing about in polyester ninjer costumes in YouTube videos are known paedophiles... and often they set up schools to teach children. Don specifically targets those freaks and we have a rather large network to monitor their activities and spread community awareness to shut them down and occasionally get them prosecuted.

Don's old like me, and doesn't even own a ninjer costume, lol.

In junior high I started spending a portion of my da's beercan money on crappy star shuriken at a kiosk in the mall... by high school I had actually acquired several high quality stars as well as a set of the "Enter the Dragon" nunchaku from Dolan's Sports (arguably the best non custom chucks ever made). After years of practice, I got rather good with both... and I suppose that was a slightly better use of my time than wasting hours playing my Atari 2600.
