No! I am not trying to turn this into flaming. I do, however, understand Don's concern, and the point he is attempting to make. I also agree with him. He brings up a very valid point, which I am sure many others feel, but will not express. The desire to remain on the forum, in good standing, overides their desire to speak honestly.

I like it and these posts are always going to be subjective even if a Mod posts them. I understand Don's point of view, but it's too early for me to get my panties in a wad I'll just enjoy it and make sure the first line of my post says "This relates to WSS, please don't move"

Thank you Esav. I think 99% of the posts here are W&SS related. Most people want to share knowledge, experiences, gear advice, and questions with like minded people. I think you trying to "encourage a broader view" is a step in the right direction.
BTW, put Don on ignore.

Honestly, i think Esav's wilderness waxings belong here as much as some of the stuff i've seen posted. In regards to other topics that have been moved.... Mods arent perfect, but generally have reasons for their actions. The topic could've been moved because of the presentation, lack thereof or because even though it was wilderness related, it fit better in another forum. The whole exercise in monitoring the threads here was to get some of the stick-in-the-muds to venture out and place their posts in more appropriate forums. Instead of Trolling a thread to stir it up, common sense would be to ask a/the mod by PM why it was moved, or,god forbid, post your grievance in the proper forum which is Service and Support.

And I can see why you value the forum so highly. For example, if I said what you just said about another member, I would be given an infraction for "insulting another member." You know, for basically saying someone was full of ****. It actually happened earlier this year, not that exact quote, but it was nothing compared to what others say.

Well, no, I didn't mean it that way.
It is very vivid and has an interesting meter. The reason I find it incredible or unbelievable or incredibly unbelievable is that reviews and/or review requests on outdoor gear... Where members specifically desire the input of people who use the gear outdoors are routinely moved to other sub-forums.
I know I risk yet another wave of microscopy until someone can hang another infraction on me, but I fail to see how this qualifies as a legitimate thread in here given the current policing of this forum.
And it's not that I find it distasteful or outside of the realm of this subforum! It does belong here, in my opinion. However, as the rules are currently being enforced, it does not, in my opinion...
Perhaps a PM or an email to the moderating staff would have been in order. You know... rather than a direct and public challenge that calls attention to Don Rearic.

That couplet about the Hawk and Vulture and the above quote really resonate. I'm just wondering who is the vulture or the hawk? In a survial situation you could be either I supose depending on your outlook/attitude.
Two ways (or more) of approaching the situation I guess.
Many time I have read accounts of wilderness survivors having an almost religious experience at the incredible beauty and savagery around them. Some write poems or paint a picture afterwards to try and express their place in the shceme of things and the insights they have gained.
