Bucksway, I thought some of the Workman knives were also sold at Sears and maybe a few other hardware stores. I don't know much about them as I was just a kid in the 80s. I bought the 112 Workman around 2010 from the owner of The Knife Shop in Fort Mill, SC. I use to go in and we'd have conversations about knives and one day started talking about Buck and he started showing me some of the 110's and 112's he owned. That one came from his personal collection. He passed away in 2016 and the shop closed it's doors. Wish I had asked where he had acquired it from. What I found that was really interesting about the Workman was made for Walmart. A nickel silver 112 was a real find in the 90's and even up until 2007 or so was bid higher than a equivalent 110 on Ebay.

Out of all of the "light" 112 I still think the paperstone ecolites were the best, it's a shame they stopped making them. Anyone know why?
Would you be able to share a few pictures of that? I'm extremely curious with how they compare.Yes I consider the Ecolite the best 'User' version of the 112 ever. As far as why it was discontinued my best guess is slow sales and to make room for other light weight versions that were probably in planning stages at that time. I am lucky enough to have one of a handful (5 maybe?) of engineering samples that didn't have the metal liner in the handle. I'm guessing having to add the liner increased cost to the point Buck went in a different direction. I was talking to Joe one day about the original prototype 112 and if pictures were known or any survived when he mentioned he had a few of the Ecolite sample handles with no liner on his desk and I asked if he would put a blade in one for me and that lucky phone call was how I have a prototype of what it originally was planned to be. I like the Ecolite and if you search hard you can find some odd ones. Advertising Ecolite's are really rare but out there. I always look for the oddballs but because the series was so short not many show up. SMKW had a couple of short runs. At the time I hoped we would see many variations like the Bucklites but it was not to be..
I have a black EcoLite 112, gave my bro in law the green one (wish he'd have chosen the black, but oh well), and just got my plum red 110 EcoLite. Love em. Wish they'd have kept them in the linup.

Understood and agreed. When I found out that Buck made drop points I ran out and bought 2 110s.This knife is bad medicine. I am now addicted and can't quit looking at bucks. In fact I ordered two right after this one (LT series) and have two on the way.AND...I have at least two more next on my "list". What have I done?
