Let's travel back in time to the early 1980's. . . to a small wooden cabin in rural Wauseon, Ohio.
Here, in this barely lit, one room shop, there is no insulation to guard against the harsh winters and heavily blowing snows. Unfortunately, there are plenty of holes in the slat board walls that allow the snow to blow in. These "snow holes" form miniature drifts along the walls and floor. Here, amidst these mini, micarta dust covered snow drifts, we find a drunken knifemaker named Jerry
. As it turns out, Jerry apparently thought that blocking several of these snow holes by placing a sheet of what he thought was useless linen micarta up against the inside wall was a perfect solution to the problem!. . . . Brilliant!. . . Problem solved!!!
Nearly 35 years later we watch as the knifemaker's closest friend Garth, and his brother, Dan discover this sheet of "Snow Hole" micarta and question him as to "why" it was there?. . . The still drunken knifemaker explains that he never used it for handles because it was apparently made incorrectly. It was in his words, "not a solid black color, but was instead, more of an olive green and black striped micarta!". . . . "Huh. . . What?", states his buddy Garth, "You mean to tell me that you were probably one of the first knifemakers out there to have multi-colored linen micarta and instead of making handles out of it, you used it to block the snow?". To which the drunken knifemaker quickly explained, "Well, when you put it that way. . . It uh sounds kinda....umm ...hmmm. . . Ya know I drink a lot, right?"
Fast forward to today and we are excited to announce that after 35 long years of service in the Busse Knife Shop, this single sheet of "Blizzard Beaten Snow Hole" micarta will be making its handle debut on a 35th anniversary special edition of Busse Combat's newest model, the Flak Jack. This will, of course, be a one-time-only offer. . . Not until my great, great grandchildren make a reproduction of this knife more than 150 years from now, with a price tag somewhere in the $300,000.00 range, will you see anything like this special "Snow Hole Edition" Flak Jack". So, why wait 150 years to pay a boat load more to get a reproduction, when you can buy the original right now at a killer cool price that is considerably lower than the distant future price?
