Some newly arrived ALOX!!!!

The issue (KL 92) model cadet is great. I had one that I found in a surplus shop years ago and ofcourse some one "releaved" me of it at some point. I would really like to get my hands on some alox in green. I think I'd like a full set. Any Ideas where to look??

Now THAT´s a score. Congratz! I love Alox... these three are quiete unique, at least IMO.

First the Soldier is a great find; BUT with a Wenger SI blade makes it to lucky find. the DAKs are hard to find, as well.

I´ve never seen a Harvester with red Alox scales.

Just a great score, my friend :)

sak alox the first knife I ever really owned. Back in high school. Why don't I have one now.

Thank you! No, haven't any seen full sized green ones since Woodrow's GAW

Very nice sir :)

Thank you Jack, very kind of you to say that!

Very nice! Interesting repair job on the soldier.
:)

Thank you!! It's a mystery and I like those!! :) Still researching it.

Thank you Andi!!! I have been really fortunate to have good friends watch for these scarce models for me.

I would think they would keep parts for repairs  Maybe a possible after market job? I look forward to seeing the GAK :D
Those are cool!

That's a great possible solution! I know there are people that fix/mod these on the forums...some on this one. The knife very well done and the rivets look like the newer ones...more "domed". I'm going to dig out some on my older SI's and compare them point by point..I have ref material on the subtle differences on the tools between the two Soldiers (Vic & Wenger).

I'll try to do some GAK/Trooper/Safari pix today...weather permitting.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does the "Alox" mean? I had an old SAK as a kid that had a red plastic handle. Do all the new ones have the metal handles? Is that what the Alox means? Or is it just a different style, upgrade, or model?

Sorry for all the questions...

Here is the Vic made GAK I received (bottom) compared to a Vic Green Safari Trooper. The main differences are the GAK has the German Imperial Eagle and a nail file on the saw blade.

Here is a Red Safari Trooper With a Safari Solo.

And a group shot of GAKs and Troopers.

The ALOX descriptor is for the models that have anodized aluminum scales. The 93mm models are all based on the 1961 Swiss issued Soldier knife. Victorinox has various sizes of metal handle models these days. The Cellidor or plastic models are still made as well.

SAK - Nice collection of Safari's/108mm's amigo!

That's a Solo Plus though ;)

Is the GAK with the nail file a Victorinox or another maker?

Thank you Scruff!!!!

You are absolutely correct my friend...it has the corkscrew on it. I have some ALOX Solos and tend to just call the all the single blade ones the same name. Thank you for pointing out my oversight.

And yes, both GAKs are Vics! Somewhere in all my junk, I have a B+H made one but, alas...I have a lot of junk.

Alox = Al Ox = Aluminum Oxide, which is what the surface of anodized aluminum is composed of.

+ + + !!! nice alox knives for sure
never seen those Gak models before , I have led a sheltered life.......

Hey, I was just being a Poindexter out of mischeif ;)

Thanks for the info on your GAKs. I do love the clip point on these....although I don't own one.

I find that 108mm's are a great size. Last year I felt like I'd sinned against my traditionals by carrying my Solo so much.
Are you a fan of the saw blade covers, only I notice there are none in your photo's?

Let us know what you find out about that Franken-SAK.

(p.s. I shall have to try and snap my Alox and Safari knives together later on to show ya....although I'm sure its nothing compared to your collection)

Yes I am and used to have 108mm's with saw covers but after the fire, the replacements I procured (both new and used) did not have them .

You are too kind my friend, my haphazard collection is extremely modest to some real collectors. I would love to see your ALOX and 108's...two of my favs.

I will try to take a pic of my ALOX SOLOs as well. Town and the doc first....

Those Victorinox GAKs are on my "Must Have" list. I own the later GAK OHT, and it is one of my favorite woods knives. The earlier GAKs are just a lot more pocketable. I've only come across one around me locally and it was in poor shape, and was not made by Victorinox.

Nice haul SAK Guy.

Thank you Halfneck!

As promised....but apologies, I lost the light before I got chance to take these all out....
