Some people just don't get it.

Y'all knife fans will be persecuted like us gun guys eventually. Get ready.
This came up when curiosity over came my common sense and I googled "knife fetish"

I call it the inevitability of stupidity. That and the degradation of freedom. Damn the future looks bleak.

I was at a restaurant the other day and saw an older gentleman sitting in a booth. I saw a SOG clip and asked," Hey man, is that a SOG?" we then had a long conversation about blades. He showed me his Flashback and he looked at my PM2. People nearby looked pretty freaked out and seemed like the police needed to be there…

As a kid I remember sitting in Science and knives and sword came up. One kid was saying how we don't need all these weapons. I told him that knives aren't weapons, but he disagreed and said that we don't need to go hunting and kill elk all the time… :/

Stab people? It hadn't even occurred to me til just now.
I'm on down time right now, so I popped open BF's main page and saw a sale ad with some Mid techs, Customs, and a few Autos. One of my fellow co-workers stopped by, saw the thread, and asked, "What are you looking at? You want to get a knife?" I turned around and told him, "I'm looking into getting a custom." He made a snooty remark, "What do you do with that, stab people? You want to stab people?" Before I could even chew him out for being ignorant, he walked off.

Some people just don't get it... :grumpy:

It's a matter of being secure with yourself. The only reason people get worked up about things like this is because subconsciously everyone wants to feel accepted. Clearly it's not at all rational in this case, but you can't control it. It's just a natural reaction to someone who makes you feel like you're somehow wrong for liking what you like.

Next time it happens, go through this process in your head:

Do I really want to stab people? No

Is what they are saying based in even the slightest amount of truth? No

Do I enjoy owning and carrying this knife? Yes

Then do I need to explain myself? No

Deep breath......release......

Move on

As far as these individual cases go, the best way to win a battle against ignorance, is to not engage in a battle against ignorance. Doing so will change nothing. In fact, doing so on a regular basis will only result in grey hair :)

For folks who sit on the couch all day and in a cubicle for a handful of hours a day working....

Thinking about someone like me wanting to go outside and do chores with tools or even hobbies with tools probably would think knife, axe and machete using on swamp weeds is insane. I think sitting and watching the dummy box is insane...but what do I know.

Hollywood propaganda does work though. People see knife and think weapon not tool. Which is actually kinda funny for all the wrong reasons.

That particuler data has been debunked. The authors didn't like the final result as it was not politically correct (or what they wanted) so they altered the dates of the study to say what they wanted it to say. They even lost their funding. Doesn't stop people from using it as a reference. Don't confuse me with facts, my minds made up.

Garbage in = Garbage out.

Imagine pulling out a Microtech Death on Contact!

That's absolutely my favorite ridiculous knife name! Death "on contact!" Death! It cracks me up every time every time I see it... :p

I get asked a lot "Why do you always carry a kinfe?", my response is almost always "What kind of man doesnt carry a knife?" in the most curious voice I can muster, then deadpan silence.
Most dudes I know start carrying one not long after (with maybe me asking them where their knife is the next time they want to borrow mine.) Pretty soon Im teaching them how to sharpen and giving suggestions on what they should get next since they cant get/keep their gas staion knife sharp like mine.

As a concealed carry guy in FL I get a bunch of crap from people. Little do they know, my gun never see's the light of day (except at the range) and my knives are used for EDC tasks. However, if a crazy guy comes into the movie theater or gas station shooting up the place, they will be clinging to my side like remoras to a shark. And yes I will protect them. One thing I will say is that girls actually accept it more than panzy guys do. These guys see it as a threat to their manhood, whereas girls like that a real man is there to protect them.

Hmm, attractive, appreciates firearms, good trigger discipline, I'd say she's a real catch.

I wonder if she can cook?

:D

Do us all a favour,
If you ever catch that guy staring at a picture of "pretty young thing",
Just to even things up, make this casual remark,
"What are you going to do with that? You want to do sick things? Yeah, you want to do sick things"
Then just walk off real quick and not engage in banter.
You know, people trend to prejudge;
And in your case, he like the rest of the world
have been over exposed to sensational negative knife related news from the media.
He simply reacted to what he has been subliminally brained washed with;
and it's not surprising that many are conditioned
To respond with negative connotations
whenever a knife appears out of the norm.
It doesn't help if the person in question
Has a warp sense of humor...
It's only funny if both can laugh at a wise crack.
Otherwise, it's plain ridicule at the expense of brewing real trouble.
Lesson from this episode,
is to always think twice as hard before making any remark.
And be more discreet about where and when you decide to pull out knife related material in public.
Just my 2 cents.

I swear, a few weeks ago on the news, Diane Sawyer or whoever was saying how a Bear Grylls went out surviving with "two big knife weaponS." *facepalm*

I consider myself fortunate since most of the people I deal with are into knives and guns, or just respect my tastes. I'm self employed, so I don't need to get along with any coworkers.

I don't really care what other people think and will not waste my time trying to change anybody's mind unless it's somebody I truly care about them. It's just not worth it.

Not to mention, even if it were true, they are most likely including suicides and domestic violence in those stats, throwing the whole thing off completely. The other day I had to listen to my art major libtard teacher tell me that protecting yourself with a gun is a "joke" and that you are more likely to kill yourself or a family member with it, citing these stats as evidence..... Duh. There's more domestic violence and suicides than successful (and reported) home invasion defense cases. That doesn't mean guns can't protect you effectively......

But let's stay on topic and not get too political...... Hmmmm. maybe it's a bit too late :p

And once again this boils down to idiots and mentally ill doing dumb things with "insert object here". Its not the object that is at fault, its the person using it.
