Some people NEED to stick with $5 knives

I don't feel that I need any "redeeming", as somebody said it's the internet, I could care less. I already lost a lot of respect for a lot of the members here. As I said in earlier posts, if you have a strider or a sebenza or any other high end knives, you can ship it to me and I'll gladly scratch it all up for you if you seriously think it's a good thing to get your $500+ knives all scratched up. Otherwise, give it a rest. I'm just glad I'm not seeing another comment about my friend's awesome fingernails because that got old after the 2nd page.

I'd send you one of my Carters, but it sounds like you intend to deliberately abuse the knife, not to use and enjoy it. Knives are made to cut, not 'baton cement' as you stated earlier. It'd be stupid to knowingly subject a cutting tool to that.

A knife is a tool first and show piece second.. ( i personally don't buy any knife over $250 because i wouldn't want to use it)

if you buy an expensive knife and EDC it expect wear marks.. otherwise carry a griptilian and use it...also some people need to lighten up.. its a knife get over it..

Entertaining thread to say the least. For me, I have two piles of knives (metaphorically speaking) - users and safe-queens. If I don't want someone to use one, it goes in the "safe-queen" pile.

If I carry it, you can borrow it.

Even if you're Wolverine.

Your friend has awesome fingernails.

DC

No... I have awesome fingernails.

That's my tactical EDC.... for times when I get mugged and I have to use deadly force to defend myself... and my family. BOO YAH!!

You sure you didn't scratch your knife?
Seriously, post a pic of the scratch.
Is it possible you might have scratched your own knife prior; perhaps banged it into another knife or something, and he just happened to fumble with it causing you to notice?

A story of my own:
I have a 911/997 Turbo. I went to lunch with a friend and when he got out of the car he hit a wall with the door. I got out and looked and there was a mark on an otherwise spotless car. I WTFed him. He got defensive with a no big deal/he did anythong wrong/I was over reacting stance. Then he switched defenses to he barely hit the wall, just tapped it blah blah. I shut that down and eventually he said sorry and I dropped it. We had lunch. He paid because he felt bad. After work when I pulled into my garage at home I saw a black mark on the right wall. Apparently, my wife or one of my sons hit the wall with the door getting out and may have done it ....
My point is, things are not always as they appear.

Back to OP- post pics of the scratch ...

I understand how you feel because I have some nice knives that are safe queens. Some of those I do carry for defense, mostly at night because I live in city and we walk to dinner etc. I would not want to scratch one if I didn't have to and would wtf a friend who did needlessly. Obviously, if I scratched one using it for defense I would not care at all. I have other knives, some nice, that I carry and use and wouldn't notice or care if another scratch is added. We know the fingernail didn't do it, so let's see what it looks like. Perhaps we can solve this mystery.

There was some pics of it many moons ago. I think he's moved on though. Titanium will scratch and the anodized even easier. It's a who knows thing. I take care not to let people handle my knives or if so to show them how it works, and any precautions beforehand. This would be limited to a knifenut or aspiring knifenut only.

Your story is incomplete. Who "marked" your door then? Did entail body work? Your wife or kids do it? Did you reimburse your friend for the allledged ding he paid for? Did he pay for lunch or the body work? Finish the story! :D

The chip is less than 1/2 inch on the edge of the passenger's door. It is not deep and certainly not worth painting. I use sharpie on it as needed (car is blk/blk), but it does not bother me. I have no way of knowing for sure if it was him, not him, or a combo. He hit stucco, my garage is drywall, and it was a solid shot. No- I didn't reimburse the lunch. We are good friends and we lunch often, buying back and forth. We fish or ride bikes on the weekend sometimes, so I did show him the wall.... LOL

You gotta love Sharpie. I have used it on clothes, paintball gear for my son and I, AK mags, kayaks, etc ... Come to mention it, I am throwing one in my bugout bag for down/ touch up time...

I forgot I used it on two gun magazines too, plus a shotgun I sold a few years back! Hmm what else, my daughter broke a beautiful old ceramic vase belonging to an older lady she cares for. Daddy super glued it (nice clean break) and my wife found the perfect shade of sharpie to shade in the crack line - voila the lady is pleased as punch and it's back on her mantle.

If Mr. Sharpie ever read all of this the price would probably double overnight! :)
