^ I love the practical simplicity of that design along with your excellent craftsmanship.

AEB-L is a great choice of steel for a kitchen knife. I have no doubt it will provide many years of service and a big smile for your mom every time she uses it.

Thanks! I just got to get her to use it and not put it up lol.

Ideal steel at 62/63 RC for that use. I’ve made several hundred kitchen knives from AEB-L. I remember one lady after her first use saying that it was so sharp that the onions were crying! One of the great strengths of this steel for this job is its ease of touch up. Why I use it on my own leather knives too.Beautiful job!

Fine knife and I like the matching wood cover.
Thanks. That was my first attempt with that. I learned a few things for the next

Thanks..it seems really nice. I bought the AEB-L and all the stuff to do ss heat treat last summer but just finally got around to using it. I really like the way it took and holds an edge. I want to get the spring ht figured out and maybe do a few slipjoints in it.

I've been working pretty hard the last few months on some knives for my brothers. This year was the first time we were all going to be together in 8 years so I decided it was a perfect time to build them one. Here is what I came up with

This was for my oldest brother. My dad was a big Civil War buff and spent a lot of time metal detecting old camps and sites around WV. I made the shield as a replica of a Minie ball that they used to find.Brian2025_BuildSheet.jpgBrian_GO.jpgBrian_GC.jpg

Having had my grubby little hands all over these a couple of weeks ago, I can say that pics don't do them justice! Absolute heirlooms. The minie ball shield blew me away and the mosaic shields are a brilliant idea! You're doing awesome work Tim!!

I was actually talking about you. I see the one you made yourself. Beautiful.
Oh I got you know lol. I've been camping all weekend and a little slow. My body is not used to this humidity of the WV hills.

This is anther one that I finished in the batch for my moms husband. He's an Ohio State fan and I thought the Buckeye burl handle was a nice touch.
