Some Sparkling Traditional Treasure!

Charlie do you have handle materials for your sfo ironed out yet? Nail nick or long pull on the main blade? Pen in front or behind the main?

I've recently gotten heavily into traditional folders and been lurking on this forum after never paying too much attention to it in the past. You all are a great source of knowledge and interesting discourse. Now this proposal from waynorth (Charlie) sounds most excellent indeed! I would appreciate it if someone could fill me in on how to obtain a specimen once they are built since I will buy one if possible. Thanks!

In this pattern, common nail nicks are usual, as is the pen in front.
So far, we are doing peachseed jigged bone, trying to get close to the OP (original post).
Nickel bolsters.

Just had to go back and ogle the scans in the OP again, yep, this will make for one very fine pocket knife! I am eagerly looking forward to seeing this project develop.

Something to really invoke the old ones - like this one!

Could we see the blades on that one?:-)

something I found while googling:

Not sure if it would be traditional or not, but has anyone ever done this pattern with a Whancliffe main blade and with a smaller secondary spear blade? Is that something GEC has or would put out, or would that also have to be a SFO?

Ah, skipped over the part about just being jigged peachseed. I am still down for one, though I suspect Charlie may have something up his sleeve. Much like the soup bones.

I don't much care for regular Trapper patterns. But in a Jack it's a different critter, and I really like to two old ones I have. Do that in a amber bone with peachseed jigging and I'll take two.

Thanks for that pic, Jon.
Here are some pictures that we have used for guidance. The final grind has yet to be determined, but it will pay tribute to these!

Thanks for the example pics Charlie - I need something concrete to go on. After seeing your guidance pics, I'm in if you are still gauging interest. Sign me up!

The Schrade, oh my! What a beautiful main blade on that knife:thumbup: I have a GEC #48 and love the knife, but put a nice size pen on it like some of those examples, and I would be in love:D

Could there be a new family moving in down the block?

So let me get this straight. Tidioute was supposed to be the traditional carbon steel users. GEC was for the few picky people who like stainless. Northfield was supposed to the premium brand.

So now we'll get an extra-super-premium brand?

At a reasonable price, they will be parallel in quality with other Northfields.
They will just reflect that I have a little input into the design, like the other on-line dealers we know and love!
There will only be a few each year maybe 3 or 4, so your wallet can rest easy, if you gotta have some.;)
