Hello,

I am the "other guy" who sent the knife to 230 grains. I have replied to the emails and will get all over this issue on tuesday when the PO opens up. I did send it with insurance but it sounds like that is almost a waste. This is very terrible and I will do all I can to ensure that the PO does the right thing. This is a very informative thread, and scary at the same time.

The way I sent the knife was in a bubble padded envelope with the knife in a kydex sheath with the extra leather one included. I have sent and recieved several knives this way before and never had any issues until now. If any one has any advise on what I can do from my end to make certain 230grains gets his sarsquatch, I am open to them.

Thanks,

JT

I went to the PO today to retrieve the package.

It was mailed in a VERY thin bubble mailer and you can see where the knife had punched right out of it. It does not look to be tampered with. Honestly, I can tear the mailer with my finger nail, I can see how the knife worked its way out of it. If I didn't want to have the mailer remain intact I would film myself tearing it up with ease and poking holes in it with my fingers.

I don't know where you guys stand, but if the situation where reversed, I would send the knife back and I would deal with the PO insurance situation as the shipper.

I can only hope it works out that way.

Mike, I agree. When we made a trade over Chistmas I got pretty nervous when you recieved, sold and shipped my FSH before I ever recieved your FBM. All turned out well, but I was a little concerned how we would unwind the trade if there was a problem.

A bubble envelope? That's really bad. That's not how you ship something like this...

JT, I really think the fair thing to do would be to undo the deal and handle the claim with the post office yourself. This situation was created by the poor packaging.

+1

Well I asked for him to return my knife, he said it's not something he's willing to do BUT if I wait three weeks he will get me a new Sarsquatch and he will take responsibility for the insurance claim etc...Hopefully this works out.

Huh? The trade never was completed. How does JT have any legitimate claim to your knife?

I do not have an extra sarsquatch, but what I am going to do is shop for another one, buy it and send it to 230. This way we can complete the transaction, and 230 isn't waiting for the PO to cough up the money, nor will he be with out a great Busse knife. I felt this is a way that niether of us would get the shaft on this deal. I just wanted to make things 100%, in spite of a shipping faux pas.

JT

JT, I think your remedy to this situation is less than acceptable. The problem was a direct, foreseeable consequence of your negligent packaging. At minimum, you should return 230's half of the trade, as you never fulfilled your side of the deal. My understanding is that the trade was one specific knife for another specific knife, not some knife you would subsequently buy and send to 230. He is just as capable of buying a different knife on the open market as you are. That is a seperate transaction than the original trade and making him wait, for a knife he has not chosen, hardly seems like you're stepping up. All the more so because you have the knife 230 promised you.

Pritch, objectively speaking, you're right, but if 230grains is OK with it, I can't see a problem.

Pritch, with you and me, I understand you were nervous about me selling the FSH before you recieved the FFBM, however had things gone south, I would have paypalled you the money or worked on getting the knife back. I'm sure RussMO would have allowed me to pay it back. Honestly, that was a lapse on my part, but I did have the money for a replacement. I wouldn't have done it that way again.

That said, my suggestion was for him to just return my knife and wipe out the trade, he didn't want to do it. It's not as if I can force him to do so. That said, the trade was for a comp finish sarsquatch with a sheath, so if he buys another new comp finish sarsquatch with sheath, I would consider the trade ending somewhat amicably, albeit, not entirely ideal for myself.

That said, if any of you have a comp finish sarsquatch to help me out, feel free to let JT know so we can all be happy. I'd appreciate it if it was just shipped directly to me however. :D

By the way, I understand the Angst at this point, but ... this is a discussion forum. Let's not get too deep into buying and selling.

I have been contacted by someone who has a comp finish sarq with kydex that I plan to buy if the pics look alright. I will send pics to 230 before I pull the trigger to ensure it is to his liking. I thank mustardman for helping me out with this as well.

I understand that my methods may not have been to everyones satisfaction, and I have seen the errors of my choice of mailer. As childish as it may sound, I realy like the ASH-1 230 sent to me. Its realy a great knife. I know I am playing to my id a little here, but I feel what I am doing is going above and beyond just rewinding the deal. I realize the course I have taken requires a bit more trust from 230, and he won't be sorry he invested it.

JT, email me the pics my friend when you get them. Do me a favor though and have the knife shipped to me directly, i'm honestly frightened to ever have INFI in the USPS again, so the less trips the better.

My initial reaction was to unwind the whole deal, however the goal of this trade was for you to get my ASH-1 and me to get a comp finish sarQ and kydex, so at this point and time, i'd much prefer the SAR instead of getting the ASH back and then selling it or trading it again.

I'll be happy as a clam when I receive my knife. I appreciate you doing the right thing!

Sorry for your heartache/headache over all this 230!

A very stand up move, jtsharp! This is a good learning leason / reminder for us all to bombproof our packages when shipping our knives to each other. I hope the USPS works this out quickly for you both!

As long as 230 is happy with the deal in the end then it all works out. Good luck with your claim with the USPS.

What I would like to know is what happened to the 1st knife and who's pocket that went into... ;)

Somebody knows what happened at USPS.

I recall reading something online once about someone who received a package from USPS that had been ripped open. They said everything they were expecting was in the package, all of it had been crammed back in and the package was taped up with USPS tape.

They also found a satelite radio that wasn't theirs in the package... apparently another package had been ripped open and they stuffed the radio into the wrong package.

I wonder if someone who ordered a camera or some candles or something wound up with a Busse in their package.
