Someone Explain it to me please.

I think some people get too wrapped up in "blade to handle ratio". I mean its cool when a knife can fit a lot of blade into a given handle size, but to me the attributes of handle size and blade size are separate. Is the handle the a good size/feels good? Check. Is the blade the length I am looking for? Check. So to me its an awesome knife regardless of the blade to handle ratio. I think it also stands testament to the fact that you really don't NEED a lot of blade length (even though I still like bigger knives :D) and that small blades can be very handy.

The PM2 has always seemed like a 'primal' cutting tool to me, like a modern rendition of a short flint blade lashed onto a stick. I dunno maybe its the blade shape... its just what attracted me to the knife in the first place. It really is the perfect pocket knife, everything else put aside. I'm always gonna want new and different knives and I don't even own a PM2 right now, but if a folding knife were to be issued to any group of people (be they explorers, scientists, military, what ever) a PM2 should be that knife.

I carry an 0801 right now and love it, but I will always give the nod to the PM2 given the price and everything else.

Thanks for all of the feedback everyone! I had no idea I would get this many response, its great! I think im going to do some research on the different variations the PM2 came in and finally try it out. Like one of you said, If I am not happy I can always resell it.

Also If you guys have any cool pictures please feel more than free to post them :)

Most everything discussed here is opinion. I love my PM2. As a matter of fact, I originally wanted one based solely on aesthetics... I think it's a beautiful knife. That, alone is definitely an opinion. Many people think it's ugly. When I got mine (black/satin/S30V), I was even more impressed. I carried a PM2 almost exclusively for 2 years. The only reason it got "demoted" is because of an S90V Military. I actually prefer the larger knife, and obviously the steel is better. But, the ergonomics and lock, in my opinion, are better on the PM2. I still carry it often, just not quite as much as the Military.

"To each their own." That's just my experience.

Edit: This is the only picture I had immediately handy.

I literally can't believe folks think the PM2 is too big. I literally wasn't sure I liked it because it was too small. Man, it just goes to show you how opinions can vary on knife size! I struggle with the regular Manix because I think it's too small. :) I think the PM2 is about the smallest knife I like to carry. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the PM2 too big? Huh.

I literally looked down at my pocket to see if I had my PM2 with me. Yep it's there, I didn't even know I was carrying it.

It's not a big knife... Something to be said for a big ZT flipper, you don't forget you have it in your pocket with those guys!! Lol

For me this is why I don't own one. I still like and appreciate the knife for what it is, but once I handled one I knew I would never carry it. It's to large to comfortably carry. I would still.like to pick up someone's user in the marketplace and keep it in my truck.

You must have really small pockets.

It's a good knife. I recently got one and wasn't necessarily bowled over by it at first, but it's strange how it keeps finding it's way into my pocket everyday instead of any of the other ones I consider in my "rotation".

I like the Para2 a great deal, but I have no problem with these opinions. It's a big world...lots of different needs and preferences. Choice is good.

I know this is a Spyderco forum and I'll be ducking thrown objects by saying this - - I'm glad I had the chance to hold one before buying or I would have been ticked.

Don't make the mistake (if at all possible) of buying a knife simply because of what you read about the particular knife in the forum of the knifemaker.

Everyone is different. At first I thought ( stupidly) if everyone said a certain knife was arguably the best EDC knife ever.......well - it must be incredible. WRONG! For me at least. I have never been so let down after having been so excited. I felt " I had been had" and the joke was on me.

But others swear by the piece. So what do you do? You'll never know till it's in your hand. Good luck. It may end up being your favorite knife. :-)

I actually had one, the tan handled S35VN, and I was like "meh". Then I became addicted to the Millie and never really thought much more about it. Then KW did the green CTS-204p version, and it was all the rage. I figured I'd give it another look. I bought one. When it arrived I was "meh" again. I actually put it in my safe BNIB to decide if I was going to keep it or flip it. Being that I LOVE the steel decided I would give it a chance. Really carry it and use it and shake it out. It just happened that it started getting warm here, and I broke out the shorts. THAT is where the PM2 shines. It really carries well in shorts, or where the Millie is a tad too big. I can now say 100%, the PM2 is a keeper! It clips in my pocket well, carries super light, does everything the Millie does in a smaller overall package. I am now a big fan. Once I really carried it and used it, it's staying FOR SURE. :) Being CTS-204p doesn't hurt either.

Right on man! I was hoping you would hang onto that thing and enjoy it. I've gone through a very similar evolution. Had a couple of pm2s and thought very highly of them, but then I got a Millie and it just completely blew the paramilitary out of my pocket, so I sold them off because they were gathering dust. But like you, I couldn't pass on the KW exclusive so I've got a new one waiting on me in the States. Hope I have the same experience you have! :)

I have 10 or so knives in my EDC rotation and the Para2 is the smallest knife in there. But nevertheless if you think the knife is too big for you, you might want to try the Sage.

Many years ago I started collecting custom hunting knives, all because I liked the looks of them. This carried over somewhat into the folders I was buying to use, so I was buying folders that appealed to me visually. At first I didn't pay much attention to the Para2 because it looked a little bit plain, but I bought one after reading how much everybody else liked them. I decided that it functioned very well and I began to like it because of that.

Nah, I'm a bit of a fat ass. I just don't like carrying around lots of stuff and the PM2 feels huge. With car keys, wallet, cell phone, etc I don't care for a large knife. I love the Manix2 but it is just to large as well.

From seeing pictures the PM2 seems to be very thin, and in that respect i might enjoy it a lot

The PM2 fits my hand like a glove and I love mine. If you think it's to big, you could try a persistence.
