I'm not siding with the thief. It sucks that you got scammed, and there's no excusing the scammer. If I had a beef with you, you'd be on my ignore list.

I liked that comment because I agree that you misused PayPal (by paying for goods with F&F), and then misused it again by telling PayPal a made-up story (about not buying goods with F&F) in an effort to try to recoup your funds. I have nothing against you, and no stake in how any of this turns out beyond a shared love for BladeForums and a desire to see it continue to be a good place to chat about and buy/sell knives.

I think PayPal F&F should be flatly forbidden on BF, full stop. PayPal G&S exists in part to solve the exact problem of being scammed out of one's money.
I'm with you. I appreciate the gentlemanly response. PayPal usually has a set of rules in place to weed these things out and they didn't do it this time. I don't expect to get Goods protection for free. I do expect them to weed out scam attempts. Simple as that. I have already changed my sales posts to G&S as previously I would only accept F&F because I have personally been scammed by a buyer to three tune of thousands of dollars. I see now that it's more important that buyers have some security and that what happened to me is probably ultra rare.

I hadn't seen post #86 when I made this post. All I saw was "I am missing something". I could have liked your post, but then:

We already know you think you're a prophet and can read other's hearts. Blowing kisses doesn't make it or you seem any better.
No prophet here? The kiss was an ode to the word "cut", since we're on "Bladeforums". . I was trying to make light of the situation. Forgive me if it seemed snide.

Please consider this post my fist-bump of mutual respect. :)

And yeah, the larger issue of ways to get scammed on either side of the transaction when using PayPal is . . . a mess. There's no perfect system, that's for sure.

I also apologize for my sarcastic remark. I'm not perfect.

Busse started all of this for me so I now place the blame on him! Damn that pawn shop that gave me a TGM and a SUS for $300!

Lol, I thought you were leaving?

...I have no reason to continue to reply to these silly comments.

This is what PayPal said after I paid. I didn't screenshot below this, which I should have, but didn't know I was being scammed. It said that I could cancel the transaction before this date if I wanted to. They didn't hold to that. After my phone call, they opened and closed the case immediately denying me my right to their service as outlined by them. No fraud, no attempt at it.

I'm glad that we're all getting along now. For years I have studied here on Bladeforums concerning steel composition and other knife related stuff via Google searches. I didn't mean that I was a member. Knife Steel Nerds is where I get ally of my information now for the most part, because of the in depth scientific approach and overall amount of content they give. I'm not a member there either.

I hope I get my money back by my bank. Thanks for all the help with IP addresses and all of the sweet caresses from those that just wished to do so because they cared about at least something.

Let's drink!! Not really.. I'll be gone for a week with no sleep or food with every STD known to man.

DaKCbeast DaKCbeast , I’ve been a curious reader of this thread. With no personal condemnation, this is what I, and likely others, see.

1. You purchased a knife on The Exchange using PP F&F, despite the strong warnings to not do so from Mods, Admin and members.

2. You knowingly violated the TOS of PP by using F&F to purchase goods or services.

3. You filed a fraud claim with PP while falsely representing the circumstances of the transaction.

4. You blamed PP for closing a fraudulent claim for an invalid transaction for an item they choose to not support the sale of.

5. You lash out at UWF for being a victim.

6. You lash out at BF for…ummm…existing?

7. You lash out at forum members in general for lack of sympathy.

This all a really bad look. Add to that the fact that you’ve only participated here to buy, sell and complain? You’re earning a spot on the “don’t buy from nor sell to” list of many.

Step back and see how this looks to anyone but yourself. If the economic loss is devastating, start a GoFundMe. I’ll contribute.
