Starting off the weekend with the fruit salad cider. I like it, like fruit juice mixed with a Belgian white or something. 6.4% ABV so I'll be able to follow along with an episode of Justified and be in pretty good shape tomorrow. I plan on trying out that H&B forge hawk I just got.

Looks good. The blacking is easy to do with Brass Black. I got a sheath from Bill Siegle with brass eyelets and wound up blacking them.

Okay, scratch that. Those looked like brass on my phone for some reason. You're thinking about using Cold Blue, no?

The eyelets are gunmetal; coating still on the blade....I was talking about the Micarta, actually.Should be pretty easy to get it dark. I have some black aniline dye that should work.

Scored a Shimano Symetre 750 off the bay last week for a really good price. I threw in a last minute bid on it, thinking I'd be outbid rright away and somehow won the auction. It showed up Friday and I can barely tell it has been used. It will be going on an ice fishing rod next fall, but I might just find a rod to put it on this summer and find some bluegills to catch.

Also, I have a Kabar mk1 on the way. Definitely didn't need it. Probably won't use it much. I guess I've just wanted to check one out for a while and finally sprung for one.

Ooh, envious. Tchaikovsky is my favorite composer, such great variety and love of percussion. My favorite instruments are percussion instruments.
I came home and I'm listening to Holst. If you're into the percussion instruments you should give him a listen. They are doing "The Planets," which I had never heard of before tonight, in May so I figured I'd give them a listen before getting tickets. I'm actually quite hooked! It doesn't have the strong sound of the Russians however it's very nice! To be fair, I'm only on Venus right now so I don't know how say Mars is going to be, but he is a huge fan of including a decent amount of percussion.

The Tchaikovsky was Hamlet, but it was only about 20 minutes long so it wasn't the whole thing. It was pretty good though!

Word is C-bear is a great cook. You guys should go on a date sometime ;).

....and it's Shostakovich, C-bear. Have a great time witchyodate. Russian composers are so.....enigmatic.
Thanks! Yeah, it was the piano concerto #2 so it was basically a piano solo but he had about 15 violins accompanying him along with a couple others.

New pants for the 17.

Thinking about blacking out the whole setup.
Definitely do it! Maybe get a set of black scales to go with it from TKC.

Good deal!. I want a stradic ci4+. Prolly the 2500.... But the price is a bit steep. Waiting on the right sale.

Thanks. It's nice to snag a deal once in a while. I've passed up quite a few other 750 size Shimano Symetres, Saharas, and Sedonas after people bid the heck out of them. Just have to be patient I guess. Anything from Shimano is gonna be nice, but those Stradic ci4's are VERY NICE! I don't know if I'll ever spend that much on a reel though. My Saros was like 130 and that was REALLY pushing it. I like the 2500 sizes for the open water fishing I do.

Speaking of reels, I got this Daiwa surfcast reel on clearance at that clearance place. Pretty nice rig. Holds 320 yards of 25-pound test. Taking it to coastal Georgia in the not-too-distant future for some sand time.

I enjoy the act of fishing. Its relaxing and fun. My skills as far as fishing goes :thumbdn:lol I need more practice.

Reminds me of my favorite Stephen Wright quote:

"There's a fine line between fishing and standing in the shore like an idiot…"

Much of the time I resemble the latter [emoji3]

So, I decided to ditch my family to run around a little bit in town. Ending up finding one of these for $20 :D so it followed me home.

It goes nicely with its carbon brother from another manufacturer.

my first slippy tee hee.

Ha! Same thing that happened to me when I got my first slippie (a SAK). I don't laugh at your pain, I hope you heal quick. At least it's on the back of the thumb and not the front.

Holst's Planets are great pieces, I love them too. My parents raised me on classical music for my youngest years, so naturally I grew to have favorites.

Nice! I've never fished with a Daiwa, but everything I've read says they are great reels. Most of my good reels are Shimano and a few Okuma's. I scored a returned Pflueger President combo for $20 from a bait shop here and am going to try that out today. The only problem with itbis the cork is breaking, so I'll have to figure out what glue to use on it.

Those are fun! Also a bit dangerous! And a phenomenal example of why one-handed opening/closing/locking knives are safer. I have that exact one, and it's a very pleasurable cheap little blade. Mine is ground absurdly thin, and is excellent at flaying flesh...
