Southard flippers are available...

I've been so good at saying no to the new releases lately. This one is just too good looking though. As soon as on of my favorite on line retailers has it in stock it will be mine!

I don't get why you guys are so hung up on the right/left handed thing. It's a flipper, which can be opened with either hand, and it's a ti framelock, which aside from a VERY select few models is almost always done right handed. It's not any different from any other ti framelock. If I can manipulate any of my frame or liner locks left handed despite my right handedness I would think someone who is actually left handed would be able to do so as well...

+1, why so disgruntled about this knife being right handed? When 90% of the population is right handed, you can't expect knife makers to accommodate that 10% minority. Spyderco isn't exactly swindling people with their prices so making it left handed as well would bump the price up because they couldn't afford to make it in both configurations at the same price. Also, when 99% of framlocks/linerlocks are right handed, you would think lefties would adapt.

The clip is right handed only. It's not comfortable to hold that way. All they had to do was drill holes in the g10 and make the clip reversible.

Let's not make this like the ZT forum and cry about every little thing..

This knife won't be for everybody..it'll be ok

I don't want to adapt. The louder that lefties are "disgruntled," the more likely it is that manufacturers and marketing departments will consider making a left handed version. There's another thread in which we lefties are being "disgruntled" about a lack of super steel offerings for the left handed Military, and Sal replied that he'd think about it and maybe bring it up with his team.

So yes, I will be "disgruntled." I will be as "disgruntled" as I can be. Perhaps if I'm "disgruntled" enough, and enough other lefties are "disgruntled" enough, we could show that there is, in fact, a market for higher end knives made for lefties.

Besides, I find it is in my interest to speak up for the "10% minority" who "can't expect...to (be) accommodated." This type of thinking is, at its essence, fascist (please be aware that I'm not calling you a fascist). It is the desire of the majority to silence the minority.

In the improbable event that Spyderco did, in fact, make a left handed version, it is unlikely that you would actually see a difference in price for the right handed version. Perhaps the left handed version would be a bit more expensive, but if they are running CNC programs to make knives, it wouldn't really cost a whole lot extra to just mirror the program to make it left handed. You can seen an example of this in the (now discontinued) left handed Spyderco Military. On some websites it is actually cheaper than a right handed version--likely a combination of the dealer's desire to get rid of something that isn't in high demand, as well as the knife having a similar enough cost to a right handed Military.

Sorry to be so "disgruntled."

So this knife is a right handed flipper?

I love flippers, I've mentioned that a few times on here, so I just opened and closed all of my "right handed" flippers with my left hand (I'm right handed) and it was just as easy as using my right hand. My techno and mil I fully understand your concern, it was quite hard or impossible.

I'm not seeing an issue here lefties, please explain, I would think you would be happy, it's a knife that can be used just fine with either hand, I'm confused.

Look closer at the knife. The lock is on the wrong side, and the Spyderhole is occluded by the locking side scale. Also, there is no way to switch the pocket clip for left handed carry.

Other than that it looks like an awesome knife.

Well makers already accomodate lefties by putting holes everywhere. It would be nice if they do go all out and build a lefty version for everything wouldnt it? Saves the knives that I buy from those drilled holes, win win!

So the most highly anticipated spyderco release is out and we just cant be happy can we. Theres gotta be something. There are plenty of models that are ambi, spyderco does a great job of putting holes in all four corners in plenty of models not to mention ambi locks. Frame and liner locks nothing new here, its the design... At least its a flipper

I did. :)

Closing the knife with my left hand wasn't an issue why would it be for you, a person that can use your left far better than me?

A LOT of trouble went into making this a FLIPPER, the hole is there as a an OPTION, even as a righty I won't be using the hole why would you TRY as a lefty when you have the FLIPPER? :)

I can understand about the pocket clip.

Meh, I'm not a flipper fan. Have you ever tried opening a flipper knife with winter gloves on? If I were right-hand dominant, I would grind the flipper off.

Also, did I mention that the lock is on the wrong side? It doesn't matter how much dexterity I have in my left hand--the motion is still unnatural in the left hand.

What attracts me to the knife (and makes me wish that it were left-handed) is the blade : handle ratio, it's relatively straight handled design, and how small its footprint is when closed.

But enough about me. I'm just grumpy that such an awesome knife isn't available left handed.
