SPAMarama!

Yum! I used to like sardines in mustard sauce, but haven't had it in -years--decades. I'll have to pick some up next time I'm at the store.

During my early days in the Army I used to keep a tin of sardines in the bottom of my duffel bag.

This ensured I would have something to eat in the event I missed chow, and I knew I wouldn’t be tempted to eat these emergency rations unless I was *really* hungry.

Ft. Worth Native, lived in north Texas, central, south (Corpus), west (Lubbock, Big Spring). My dad was into oil and alcohol, so we moved a lot…

I love Spam.
Lots of Texans here... I grew up in Lubbock, moved to the metroplex in my early 40's, been there ever since. I never worked in the oil field, but I did some construction work in Odessa for a few months. Also Austin and Muleshoe.... and Pampa. Almost forgot that one.

I found smoked Trout fillets at Trader Joe's about 6 months ago! They are beyond great!!:)
And it's a good thing my wife loves anchovies like I do!! Ordering Pizza is easy!!
(I wonder how long this thread will last without knife content??)

Knife content incoming!

Any of you sardine and anchovy lovers ever try Pasta con le sarde?
I bump up the anchovy content to Spam-like sodium levels.:)
And replace the raisins with sun dried tomatoes for the sweet component.(I'm sure the raisins are just fine but somehow I can't get past it paired with fish, garlic and olive oil)
Awesome dish!

Just another way to slice Spam.;)

:eek::eek::D:thumbsup:
From Spam's home town State Fair in Minnesota... :)
Although this German made sausage knife is from Hormel's close competitor, it would make a good Spam slicer.

It's a rather simple dish to make, and the upside is that the main ingredients are usually canned so it's something I can throw together in a pinch with what I have laying around.

Now I'm getting hungry.
And it seems I've recently opened a can of Spam so....Pancakes or waffles for dinner?

I have watched that interview with Art Donavan several times, funny man. He said he liked SPAM, and he was a big man, so liked large meals. He finished off the SPAM with no problems. I also like him saying how he heard people talking about how Professional football was like Combat, and saying it was not, as he had been in combat and knew better. John
PS I emailed my friend in Finland and he was eating that Christmas meal in 1984, at the UN base in Poonch, Kashmir.
