Spec Ops 10" interest

NMFBM, CG FBM, BUSHWACKER, FFBM, I"ve got my name on the list with lost mountain knives, and am waiting for those to come in, but hey, I've got most of my busse's in Spec ops sheaths already, they are good to go.

I'm ticked that Spec Ops cancelled their olive drab color option.
BTW, my chicken is looking for a short Spec Ops sheath in olive drab.

I prefer OD as well. Foliage green has grown on me a little. I was really surprised when I was in the uniform store on Elmendorf AFB they had piles of Spec Ops stuff all of it in foliage green. Not even any coyote brown if my memory serves me correctly.

I have not had a chance to call Spec Ops. Hopefully I get a chance tomorrow.

I'd definitely be interested in something that fit a 9-10 inch blade that was 2 inches wide and 3/8" thick. Not sure what Busse may be of those dimension, but a spec-ops sheath for it would be very much appreciated.

Which tomorrow are we talking about. :D

The kinda tomorrow when I have a a little free time :) I have been working full tilt lately and studying for my EMT 2 test on any down time. The time difference is what always sets me back. I have time to call right now but it is presidents day and 18:00.

I'd be interested in seeing them, but at the right price. Right now, a long Spec-Ops is running in the $45-$55 range, up from $35-$40 just a few years back. Current price for a long is roughly the same as a LMIW sheath, which WILL fit some of the big knives. I'd hate to see Spec Ops price the bigger (extra-long?) sheaths a lot higher than the current longs.

Cool, beaverseat. I need to change that sig line though. My chicken finally found a couple.

Just a note to tundra trader. If you're trying to gauge interest for Spec Ops, you might also test the waters in other subforums like Becker (for the BK-9) or Horton (a lot of his big choppers are too long for a Spec Ops long) or others.

On that note, possibly one of those polls you see on the front page too. Not sure how those work, general forum at the least.

Update

I just got off the phone with Spec Ops. They have several different larger and smaller sheaths going through R&D right now. The larger sheath should fit a wide variety of the big knives. They gave no estimate of when these would be ready or finished with R&D.

I take this as great news that they have these going already. I will try and keep in contact with them and update this thread.

Maybe a mod could move this to the sheaths section to open this to a broader group.

Thanks for the input everyone,
Zach

Thanks for your efforts Zach. Maybe we can pull together a group buy.
Good Luck on your EMT 2 test, let us know how you do.
Wasn't meaning to pressure you above, about which tomorrow, Just havin some fun.

Sweet. Definitely good news.

Thanks for contacting them and organizing this. Good luck on ze test.

One less option available now with the closing of LMIW. And no options for larger sheaths on the Spec Ops web site.

I have both Spec Ops Combat Master & Survival sheaths. They are my favorite. It would be cool if they made a sheath in the same style for a 10" blade. I would be in for a couple if the price was right.

To be honest I am sad to see another small business go. I stand by my comment that they tried too much too fast.

I will give spec ops a call and see if the R&D has progressed.

Sad to see LMIW close. They made some really nice sheaths.

Id be interested in a Spec Ops sheath for 8" knife size, like FSH and SY SOD.

Found out about LMIW last night - it's too bad, they seemed like nice people. I'd definitely be interested in a series of longer Spec Ops - I've always been more than pleased with their products
