Jeff,

I was reading in the General Discussions Forum that you were talking with Mike Turber about having a Bladeforums Buck knife. I know from the rest of that thread that it will be some time before we see a special edition knife but I was wondering, what kind of knife did you have in mind? I apologize if it was described somewhere else, but this was the first time I've seen any mention of it. An exclusive Buck sounds very interesting to me, and I was just curious as to what it might look like.

Thanks,
Alan

I guess I'm #5.....and may I make a suggestion....how about a Buck 532....BG42 blade....filework.....titanium bolsters.....carbon fiber handles!!!!

Me too, and add to the 532 a thumb stud and a pocket clip with tip up carry. A true gentelmens pocket knife.

Yes it is true, I called Mike about the possability of us doing something to help. I am checking into it this week. It would have to be something simple to keep the costs reasonable. People like me can't afford a bunch of $100 + knives. In fact I was unable to buy any of the other offering for that reason.
I was thinking of a 110 with BG-42 blades and a Colored wood scale. This would be the best price point for all concerned. Anyway, I still need to arrange the permissions and all that...
How does a bg-42 110 sound?

Jeff,
Sounds great to me! BG-42 in a 110 house? That would be great!

Jeff,

I think a BG-42 blade in a finger grooved 110 nickel-silver frame with some nice fibron wood like the cherrywood in the original 532 or perhaps the walnut in the european 532 would be fantastic. I don't have a finger grooved 110 and always thought that they looked great and very functional.

PS You guys already know how I feel about the 532, so knowing that the 531 is just a bit larger (~ 1/4" longer with similar blade increase in length but the whole shebang has more depth) and out of production since '91, perhaps the tooling is still available to produce one of these. Just a late thought

OK. I'd rather it be a 532 (cause I couldn't swoop on one earlier), but the 110 would still be very acceptable.

Bob's got a good idea there too.
Thanks for doing this, Jeff and all the rest of you at Buck.

Jeff please don't shoot the 532 down till we can see what the knife nuts really want. But I would take the 110 also. Ok, twist my arm.

Whenever you guys narrow it down, Jeff, let us know what pricing we can look at (off line, please

) and what options.

A BG-42 110 sounds cool.

PLEASE.....let's do a 532 in some form...ots slender and elegant....the 110 is nice but a bit too heavy to carry around!!!!! Jeff

I'd like to see a large Buck fixed blade just like the 1976 Bicentennial Limited Edition. This should be a BladeForums 2000 Limited Edition Buck in a special Wooden case with glass top. Walnut would be very nice.

That would float my boat big time!!!

Sorry Jeff, I just reread your post above. The 110 would be very nice (and affordable)!. The above fixed is just my fantasizing about what I would really like to add to my (still small) collection of very special knives.

Jeff,

Thanks for replying. Either a 110 or a 532 sounds good to me. Whatever the choice, I would prefer something that's a little out of the ordinary and distinctive, yet kept to a reasonable cost.

Alan

All,
I had a chat with CJ today, and how does this sound...
BG-42 175 Lightnings with a unique anodized handle to possibly include the Blade Forums Logo.. We think that the costs would be reasonable...
BG-42 110's would also be a choice...
532's would need a 500 min to do and we think that would be too much for the scope of the project.

Let me know...

If we can't do the 532 I would rather have the 110. Ok, Lets dream alittle, ( B-42 steel or 420v, with milled and heat treated 410 liners and also the inside of the liners jeweled, lock bar and blade file worked in a vine pattern, a thumb stud or disk and a clip, lets go with a Iron wood burl handle). Now!, thats sounds good to me. Or we could do the samething in a 532 hummmmmmm. Just dreaming alittle.

Hey, that sounds pretty nice, Jeff. I don't have a Lightning yet so that would kill two birds with one stone. Too bad about the quantity needs on the 532, oh well.
I will go along however, with whatever model the most people vote for. Just love the idea of the BG42 !
Thanks, Brian

I really like the idea of a special lightning, it's small enough to legally carry here, and I don't already have one. That said, I'd still probably get a 110, because I don't own one, and I really should
