special forces knives??

Is there a special school I could go to, to learn how to be a "Mall ninja," I always wanted to be authorized to buy "Dark-ops" knifes and get my 007 rating. Gee whiz, those sure are some purdy knives

The real comical part about this thread is there is probably more of STRIDER, Emerson, Busse knives in the hands of Mall Ninjas than there are any where else. And there are probably pretty close to the same amount of STRIDER, Emerson, Busse knives carried by SF guys as there are Dark Ops knives.

Imagine yourself on crowded Bakara market in Mog, dressed in a Jallaba, your throat microphone headset cracks "give us a Sitrep, john!"
Suddenly you hear "dirka dirka muhammad jihad , Surpa surpa bakala , why you have American Infidel knife on belt"?

:D

touche :D:D

So they normally use what the locals use. They try to blend in, wear local clothing, etc.

Not always true they also have a very real overt, gosh I love that word it's so untactical, mission which is the one that they are most often fullfilling in iraq. My friend usually goes out looking like the most f'd up mall ninja you've seen, but he is really really good with his 1911.

Hate to tell you all that many Spec Ops guys arn't knife guys and use whatever they are issued. Some of the guys I worked with when I was in the sand seemed to really like Spyderco and CRKT. Why? They are sold at the BX, they are inexpensive and are made to handle basic tasks. Of the others that know what they are carrying, I have seen Strider, EKI and Busse. Most the other guys won't pay that much though. I am just a Security Forces troop but I have been to OIF. I took a strider fixed blade, but didn't need it. A SAK was better for the day to day stuff. I also had a Spyderco DODO for heavier shearing of flex cuffs and camo netting and other such materials. Dork Ops is a flaming joke. Honestly, the really expensive tactical knives are made for guys like us. Nuts who love cool knives. You don't have to be military to enjoy them. So to answer the original question? Get whatever you want. Don't follow the hype. If I had to choose just one or two though? Spyderco Military and a SAK. That will be all you ever need.

This blade was designed for one thing...it is not a utility knife. I just bought one for my brother who wants to go Rangers.

No no no...your falling for BS marketing.

Did you read the beggining of this post mocking people who make comments like "This blade was designed for one thing..."?

Some people never will learn. Ever.

Whatever, with knives like Dark Ops I can agree. However, this is MOD and I had a lengthy discussion with Brent Beshara at the blade show today. So from what he tells me and his experiences have been I am going to fall for his BS marketing and buy my brother a """dagger""" (my bad I should have said dagger in the other reply) I believe won't ever fail him. Anyhow, It's not like he doesn't have 3 other high quality blades to choose from.

What I won't fall for however is some band wagon jumper trying to fill my head with crap he knows nothing about except for what I said and what the little description label on the website said. The dagger was designed for one thing in specific, though it can be used for utility it was not designed for that purpose and the user would be "disappointed" is the gist of what he told me. Knife maker > Some internet critic.

Furthermore no where in the blade description does it say, "This blade is designed for one thing..." I simply said that because that is what was told to me by Brent in person. In otherwords it is NOT advertised in that manner...

The knife forms a point similar to what you would get if you sharpened a flat tipped screwdriver. The two edges actually rotate and meet at the apex to form the point. It is quite an imaginative design. You can see details here :

http://www.blackhawkvideo.com/videos/mod/xsf-1.html

It would be interesting to note which daggers the designer saw fail as there are many cheap versions of that design. It would also be interesting to see a comparison of the point penetration/strength vs a traditional dagger design.

Well unsharpened screwdrivers are used every day in stabbings so this should be many times more efficient, both at stabbing and killing.

I have the Besh and it is cool. The side edges don't cut worth crap but the tip is lethal. don't know if I will ever carry it, but who cares. It looks cool.

BUT........... but they manufacture the shnakmatic 5000

By far the gayest otf i have ever seen.

Get yourself a strider, ranger, or busse.

from the website "Strategically placed blood grooves control blood spray in covert deanimation activities." :D

Here's another creative description from Darkops...

"The choil-notch doubles as both a bottle opener and peacemaker-its’ deployment and use is a great bar fight deterrent in exotic third world locales."
 :jerkit: :barf:
