The water out here is used for frac jobs to fracture the shale deposits so the wells can produce. The rock formation isn't very porous so they used high pressure (I've seen pressures as high as 12.1k psi) and sand to fracture the formations. Then, when they bring the wells online, they get a lot of water back. The water they get back gets treated with an insane amount of chemicals and reuses to frac the next well. So, if you think salt water is corrosive think again! This stuff is so nasty you can smell the salt and metal in it. It's also full of bleach, acid, and other corrosive chemicals. And my magnacut blade literally looks brand new! As a comparison, I carried a spyderco drunken out here for 1 12 hiur shift. S90v blade showed an insane amount of rust spots in only 8 hours.
