Spending the day with a Canadian: Grohmann #4 Review

I realize this is an old thread, but I'm going to post anyway!!
A couple of weeks ago my Father and I took a motorcycle trip up to the cabot trail... and it was absolutely amazing! The scenery was great, the roads were very curvey and everyone we met were very nice and informative. I'm liking Canada more and more every second (not so sure about the winter though... not too fond of the cold).
On the way home, we hit the Sunrise trail and stopped at Pictou, Nova Scotia to see the Grohmann factory. Unfortunately we were too late for a factory tour as all the workers had left early that day. However, we spent a good hour or two looking through their shop and I picked up a carbon steel number 1, another number 1 in the kit (that I got engraved back home to commemorate the trip), and a factory second number 4 in stainless.
I must say, these knives are uniquely Canadian and I likey

I've been to the factory in Pictou as well. Picked up a #3 Boat knife. We also missed the factory tour, as there was only two of us (GF and I). They said we needed a minimum of 4 for a tour:grumpy:

Lame. What stanks the most is the factory is 1200 miles and a sore butt away from here. Hopefully someday I'll get back up there though.
I was really looking forward to that tour too...

Great post JC! I've had a "custom" Grohmann #4 for a while; Micarta handle, and a full-flat ground carbon steel blade (I'm suspecting O1). It's a great knife...however, my sheath has been torn up and is sporting mostly duct tape than leather. I just contacted Eric for one of his sheaths (I have a few others and his quality is top notch). Thanks for the motivation:D:thumbup:

Ah...only one photo of my #4...

Rock,

that micarta flat ground carbon #4 looks awesome.

and eric's sheaths are friggen awesome, you wont be disappointed.

:D

nice sheath... my leather retaining strap gets cut up pretty badly as I don't think to move it out of the way... carried a Randall #10 for a lot of years and only recently switched to a #4. regards Les

That was my first issue and then I sliced part of the sheath when re-sheathing; great knife, but poorly executed sheath...or I'm just a knuckle-dragging Neanderthal that lacks any type of finesse at all!:D

It's always nice to see a post about Grohmann Knives. I think they are a quality knife for the money and pretty hard to beat. Oh, did I tell you I like Grohmann Knives too? :D
