A place to discuss and post pictures of single blade spey or primary spey bladed knives. Traditionals only of course.

The one that started it all was this
Henry Sears & Sons I grabbed at the Badger Knife Show this year. I picked up this knife and thought that it was interesting. I put it down and perused the other offerings at the other vendor's tables all the while I could not get the knife out of my head. I headed back and after a nice little haggle session. The knife was mine. I did not know at that time that this was going to be an obsession.

And now I have a mini collection of these things and here they are in there infinite glory 😃.

And my favorite to date. Edge brand made in Solingen double spey beauty. Stamped "Western Castrator" on the main blade. Don't know the age but I am thrilled to have it.

Please feel free to post pictures of your wonderful speys. I know there are many that I have never seen.

Taylor’s is a little guy. 😎👍

Those two do seem out of place don't they.
All the spey/castrating knives i ever saw here were about the Taylors size. When i enquired was told that the small size could fit more easily into a belt sheath for quick access, and that being razor sharp was more important than size. They were only used to slice like a scalpel so sharpness was more important. Good thread.

That little guy is by far the sharpest one. It's a laser. Thanks for the info, Leon.

Thats one of the nicest ones around, Ed. Awesome spey!!!! Thanks for sharing.
That is a beautiful example Ed, simply outstanding. The good old days when you could purchase at your own leisure. They would be gone in seconds now, great addition to your collection.

Thanks guys. It s a nice one and Leon cudgee cudgee is right. It was purchased when time to purchase wasn't a matter of seconds.

That’s pretty cool stuff. I like that Winchester one. Never seen anything like that. I didn’t know there was any knives with a spey primary ever made. I am a spey man.

Thanks, John. I didn't either until a few months ago. As you can see, I have fallen into the deep end. Hope everything is going well in your neck of the woods.
