Spider Colony

I checked Snopes and it came up empty... I don't think its fake. We get alot of tent caterpillars around here... would be cool to see something of that magnitude firsthand.

Meh, I live in a tropical country and thus see flying cockroaches the size of my thumb every single day.

Dont really care about spiders, wheres napalm when you need it?

Completely freakin' creepy. Raid needs to start making much larger bug bombs.

There are a few spiders I don't like, Brown Recluse, and Black or Brown Widows come to mind cause we have them here. The rest just don't bother me. Daddy Long Leg spiders (highly venomous) in particular hunt other spiders such as the two mentioned. But they can't break the skin on people so we keep them. Don't be indiscriminate.

That was the best part of that movie.

Re: spiders.
One of my favorite types (beside the golden orb weavers) is the wolf spiders we have. They don't spin webs, and run down their prey, quite fascinating to see them run down one of these damned roach/water bug things we have here. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that, these things are fast. Plus it's cool to see them make the kill and the (seemingly) hundreds of young hop off the mother's back and set to work.

There has just GOT to be a tactical solution to this spider infestation...

Maybe the guys from the Prac Tac threads could chime up.

I got bit on the neck by one of these, just south of Homestead. It swelled up pretty badly, but the swelling went down after about three hours. No real harm done, but it was creepy as hell to be bit by one.

I hear that they really really hurt when they bite you, like scissors cutting into the skin. Was it really that bad?

Now that is some interesting stuff. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to get nailed by one of these guys. I’ve held them plenty of times, but as long as you don’t restrain their movements, and gently remove them from the ground (not the web), you generally can get away with it. That goes for a lot of animals such as snakes, etc. But, when you restrict their movements, watch out! They tend to get on me when I’m on the four wheeler or golf cart at the hunting plantation. Even for my bug crazed likings, its still freaky to see one on you that you didn’t intend to be there. You don’t have any pictures of the bite do you?

That is a scary sight ! I wouldnt get within thiry feet to be safe. :D

Why such hate towards spiders? They are the natural enemies of flies and other pests. Without them we would be screwed. I'd choose spiders anytime instead of flies, mosquitos and other nuisances.

You are correct... Spiders creep me out like nothing else on this planet and god knows I kill every one of them I see usually , on sight.

I do agree with you though aside from your last sentence :D

We just need to find a way to genetically engineer spiders to look like puppies...that way everyone is happy (well, maybe not puppies).
