Spine whack test?

I suppose I'm not a fan of relying on a mechanism to eliminate the potential of injury, whether it's a lock on a knife or the safety on a firearm.

We all have to rely on mechanisms for safety. Brakes, fire alarms, circuit breakers, elevators, etc. We just avoid the ones we can and try to test the reliability of those we can't avoid.

If you don't want to rely on it, that's up to you and how you use the knives. If the maker puts it on there, it should do what it's supposed to do.

If you absolutely do not want to rely on a mechanism for safety, then you should not drive, or shoot. You have to rely on steering, acceleration, and braking in an automobile-all of which, are controlled by mechanisms of one sort or the other. And you need to rely on your firearm not firing unless the trigger is pulled. Or that the gun will maintain proper headspace, so that it does not blow up in your face or hands-or do you check with a no go gauge after every round?
