Schrade made 3” 7/8s CRAFTSMAN Staglon 9554 carpenters whittler. With smooth action and tight blades, bolster pins and almost.... sunk joints.

Lest we forget, GEC made a split backspring whittler last year, as well as this year's #38!!
Using two equal springs, a "catchbit" spaces the small secondary blades! ( thin catchbit, seen here protruding to the left of the spring ends in the spine pic!!) A very well-made knife, IMO!!

Black Box Winchester, by Queen!! Some may call this a "Stockman Whittler", with its Clip and Spey blades, and Serpentine shape!! Nicely wedged springs, and reclaimed Utica Bone fill out the package!!
During my tours of the Queen Factory, while it was working, I watched this talented cutler cutting the blade swedges freehand on a wheel!!

imho, one of the best, if not the best shield (Orleans) for these Serpentine patterns, especially for the tapered ones.

i dont know which main blade shape i like more on the Geppetto, clippoint or wharncliffe.... hmmmmm
