Spoon Carving Fail - beware, graphic pics

I'm glad it wasn't something worst. Small stuff like this are things we learn from to prevent bigger accidents.

Don;t feel bad I cut the entire front of my thum off last year while making a fire board.. With you guessed it a razor sharp Mora

As the old Monty Python skit went "It's only a flesh wound":p
Seriously, I stopped counting stiches when I hit 20-mostly on my hands-used to be a mechanic. Lots of scars:grumpy:
Heal quickly:D

Holy crap bro!

Glad to hear you are doing ok. I've cut myself plenty of times. I cut a tendon in my middle finger of my left hand so now it's crooked :)

Man, that is a doozie. You'll be better before ya know it Russell.

Take care, and don't feel bad, accidents happen to everybody. I know I've had a good share of them.

Nick:)

Thanks for all the well wishes :) I know most of you guys have been here, and I know for sure a lot of you have had worse accidents happen. I'm thankful it was relatively minor. On the bright side, at least I can provide another little reminder for all of us to be careful while enjoying our hobby/lifestyle.

Nick, I'm bummed that I won't be able to go on a good hike tomorrow, but at least I have my Scout to look forward to this week :D

Dad always said that there is nothing more dangerous than a dull knife. Just think how bad off you would have been if your knife was dull....Steve

You didn't die. You'll have some pain (maybe) for a few days. And then you'll have a scar and a good story to tell for the rest of your life. (Check out my signature.) :)

Well, at you least you got the scar doing something cool.

I have a huge scar on the back of my hand from cutting cheese, how lame is that?

Heal fast buddy !
I have a large scar from a broken glass bottle - does it counts ? :P
I've also cut my finger pretty bad with a Buck 110.

AW that's nasty! If you stuff soem garlic in there it would impart some nice flavor on the grill. Wait, wrong forum sorry. :o :D

Heal fast bro!

Nice gash mate.

Here's a kind of related question:

Who here would stitch their own wound of this size?

No thanks...I've done stitching on goats before, it's not any fun and I'll save it for the better trained; my stitching would look about as bad as the unstitched scar:D

I have a large scar on my shoulder when I slipped working on a wheat combine. It left a massive gash, but it didn't bleed too bad, I just wrapped a bandana around it and kept working. If your stitching isn't done right or it's not completely sterile or you don't build a drain into it, it could create more problems than if left open. I've had some minor medical training, but I don't see where stitching is that critical unless it's very severe, maybe somebody with more experience could chime in on the necessity...
