Spoon Carving Fail - beware, graphic pics

I finally get to wash it tonight (ER doc advised leaving it alone and dry for 48 hours), will take a pic or two of the suture job and put it up here :)


Who here would stitch their own wound of this size?

Nope, me neither! Way too many things that could go wrong with an untrained person winging it. J Williams started this excellent thread a while ago that used to be stickied. A number of experienced people chimed in and shared their knowledge, really a great source of info :thumbup::thumbup::

Great to see someone else following the 'chicks dig scars' philosophy.

I would definitely not stitch something like that up on my own. But, as you have shown, it did need stitches. I have a few scars that were the result of me deciding that self-suturing was not the way to go, and that getting to the hospital was not a reasonable option. There's a rough middle-ground where one opts to forego both DIY and professional help, resulting in unnecessary wear and tear.
