Spring 2015 Becker (East) Gathering - May 1-3 - Now With Pictures!

Made it in a little while ago.

Hoping for safe travels for everyone who hasn't made it home yet.

What a weekend.

Got a good nights sleep and mentally back to normal-ish. Words can't describe the kindness, generosity, and companionship of the event and the people at it. The pinnacle of which being the big man himself. Thank you all for everything and hope to see most of you at Blade.
I've got it narrowed down to 43 pic's so it's going to take a bit. Glad you made it back Derek.

Would it make sense to merge Vik's head count thread with this one? That way, we'd get all the pics in the same thread.

Please do :)

OK, here we go. Most of these are in chronological order from Friday noon until early Sunday. Not going to narrate but most of the pictures speak for themselves.

Many thanks again to Ethan, Dex, the Trade's, and everyone else for keeping us full and happy. Mrs. Trade, those fried pies were on point! Hope you all made it back home safe. Gus good seeing you again and Nate hope you're feeling better. Again, I can't thank you guys enough for always making this such a great experience. Dex, I got some big plans for that wharnnie 15. Whoever is going, I'll see you at Blade.

It really pisses me off that I had to miss all of Friday and a lot of Saturday. Damn it. Still had a great time.

I do have beer though

Indeed. Some of the remainders made it home with me for a tasting. Thank you.
And thanks to tradewater for being my bacon proxy (and to Tankerwolf for offering to do so).

More thanks....

To Ethan, as always. He's the consummate host. Hospitality meter was pegged. Pork loin and cheese grits were up to the usual high standards. Thanks to Kay for the fried pies. I was going to have one. I had three instead (apple, cherry, and pineapple). And to whoever brought that pork loaf, I'm much obliged. Vik sliced me a chunk, and it's in my fridge now. Thanks to terrio for some additional work on a knife, which he handed me at the Gathering. Pics to follow soon. It fits my hand so much better now, and I love the green micarta. Dex, you are the man with the grilling plan. Thank you for the venison tenders wrapped in bacon. And for the ammo can idea. I'm on a mission now to find one. Vik, the Sunday breakfast scramble was excellent. Most appreciated. And thanks to everyone else who helped out when something needed to get done.

Great pics man, thank you! But I can't quite tell who that guy in the middle is... gonna have to blow it up a bit to see...

Oh yeah... that's the always-charming and eminently-congenial Murph, giving his characteristic salute. :D

I could not agree more! We all owe a heckuva lot to Ethan... for designing great knives to start with, but even moreso, for bringing people together.

Don't even get me started about how much Ethan has done to encourage and support other designers and knifemakers and fans of knives and the entire industry.

Anyway, it's truly a rare privilege to even witness that kind of genuine fellowship from afar, let alone be invited to join in. I have learned a TON every time I've spent a minute with Ethan and y'all, and I'm eternally grateful for that.

It's flat-out impossible for me to pick "one favorite" scene or example or story from any Beckerhead Gathering, because there is just so much really cool and positive stuff going on at every one I've been to or even heard about.

But I must say, the very best part overall is when folks bring their youngsters to a Gathering, let 'em run a little bit wild and climb trees and catch lizards and try all kindsa different foods and meet people from all walks of life and start fires and shoot guns/work with knives (under expert supervision and instruction with safe practices at the forefront ) and whatever-else-not :D... Ladies and Gentlemen, that's the just the way it should be.

Everytime, I see folks enthusiastically encouraging the basic skillsets that are so important to becoming a kind-hearted, thoughtful, but also a strong, resilient, hard-working human being.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... a Beckerhead Gathering is about the safest place on the planet for any kid age 0-99... if you have any sense at all, you will have fun and learn stuff that will stick with you forever. :)

Patience is a virtue. I think at least one person who posts here got a video of it. It happened fast.

I am quite possibly the least virtuous semi-human that you know. I'll try to be patient though. :D
