Spring CA Gathering Above Visalia: 4/30-5/2/10

man.. i wish we could make it....:( we have so much stuff going on right now, it's rediculous... this is usually a very busy time of year for us...

i hope you all have a blast.. we had such a great time at the last gathering.. my boys are still talking about it..:D

Current forecast is for rain Tuesday and Wednesday, with the weekend partly cloudy and temps in the 60s. That is the valley forecast, so it will be a little cooler there, but not by much. It's not very high, a little over 4000'.

Who else is planning on showing up.. i would like to hear from the ones that show up not the the ones that wont.. maybe this time we should BBQ the chicken legs.. Im making a list of what i should bring as i always forget something. Got some yucca leaves to practice making cords. Need to find my fire drill to practice fire making.. Havent practiced that for too long... Been a slacker latly with work and life..
See ya all at the camp ground..
Sasha

We should be arriving on saturday, hopefully before noon.

I know some kids are coming. Would it be worthwhile to bring some of the airguns for a "low noise" shooting session?

Unfortunately, I have experienced a disruption in The Force. After 18 years and 136,000 miles of crawling up mountain and other off-road trails from the Arctic Ocean to remote parts of Baja, my Chevy truck tranny finally failed. I went from 3 speeds plus overdrive to "sort of slow" and "sort of fast". Reminded me a bit of the two-speed turbo slushamatic in my '64 Malibu.

In any event, I had hoped that the rebuilt tranny would be back in the vehicle by today but no such luck. So I'm going to have to take a pass on this gathering and wish everyone a great time.

Have fun!

bummer.. sorry to hear that Dave... god luck with everything...

Thanks. The only good part of this is that with no truck, I've been motivated to get in a lot more bicycling. Also took the Rokon 2WD motorbike on a 4,000 v.ft. climb into the Pine Nut Mountains, which are within a mile or two of my new place. Big snowbank finally stopped me.

When it warms up in a couple hours, I'm taking a road bike out for a pedal around the Smith Valley. Maybe I'll be in better shape by the time of the next gathering of the faithful.

I appreciate the good wishes,

Sooner or later, we will physically meet and exchange local maps.

We'll be on the ranch near Fallon in July, it looks like.

Sounds good! There's a cycling club up in your direction that puts on some rides I might do some day. They have a name like "Fatboys" bike club, which would be appropriate for me!
