Spring into Spring with a "Barlow a Day for Thirty Days"

Primble Primble <snipseses>

Some nice unadorned watches you & others have been showing (there's a potential collector's money pit..:D ) I've gone over to automatic watches these past couple of years, nothing fancy and they won't obviously be as accurate as a quartz but so what, who needs pin-point accuracy, most time is wasted anyway! What I got fed up with is the cost of replacement batteries, 25€ (27 USD) a go in the shopping mall o_O I DIY some of them but some I just can't get the back off or on again...auto it is .

Thanks, Will

I hate the battery shuffle as well. I have one mechanical hand-wound, two solar quartz, and one remaining battery quartz. If I decide to change things a bit, it'll be a better mechanical hand-wound and a mechanical auto, and several current watches will have to go. Likely the battery quartz and one solar.

Never got home yesterday in time to post day 12.

I think those Tractor Green TC are some of the nicest looking Barlows GEC has done for a long time, Sheepfoot just the job too

Cool!! I used to skateboard, but never got very good at tricks. I moved on to snowboarding and still do it to this day! Granted, my age is starting to catch up with me 😝 Knees aren't what they used to be!
If you’re still snowboarding, you should try skating again. I skated as a kid and have started again in my 40s as my son has gotten into it. I’m not great but it’s really fun to do with my son and it keeps me young. I’m also a snowboarder. I started doing that in the late 80s and never stopped.

day 13.25 and 14
TC141122 "Tom's Choice" that I won in Waynorth's GAW a couple years back. (blade etch since wore off)
Showed with her brass bolstered Imperial Double Eagle friend.

Both have long pulls and smooth wood covers.
Imperial may be one of the Rosewoods. Hard as Heck with either to get the woodgrain to show in a photo. 🤨☹️

"couldn't" make it to day 15th with the SARGE. Sorry. 🥺

That's a good question, Will. I have a couple Lockbacks of similar design, I think of them as "Barlow-like". Since it's not for me to decide, I'll be looking for the definitive answer.
BTW, love the stag.

Happy Monday!

Day 12…

It takes a conscious effort for me not to automatically reach for the main blade. How many of us regularly use the smaller blade, and how many, like me, just use the main?

I am more of a "main blader", but, some of the previous owners of my old knives were "pen bladers". 😊

Hi, my name is James and I too am a habitual "main-blader". ;)
Btw, love the Buck Barlow... very special! 🗡️

🤣🥕

DAY XIV

Dubious about this one but here goes. Got some fine Stag on it and it's a Lockback too, Drop-Point, the bolster's big but it's slant....fingers crossed :)

It says it's a fox-n-hound. 🤬 It's a bare-head and one might say it has one side of the bolster that one could say is extra long ...... but ....... the short side isn't extra long and it is also slanted (which doesn't fit my idea of a Barlow pattern) ..... so I am going to call it a half Barlow ..... or almost a Barlow. So ..... buzz, buzz, buzz ...... you need to toss it aside for another day and get a Barlow in your pocket ...... before this day is through ! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🦨🐈‍⬛;)🤣🤣🤣

On the other hand .......... it's a beautiful jack knife !😍

I decided. It's my challenge ! ;)🤣🤣🤣🤣🦨

Kentucky Bourbon, Kentucky Burley, tobacco Barlows, tractor green ............. they all seem to go nicely with a Barlow. Barlows on the farm, when I was a youngster in Kentucky, is where I got my first glimpse of a Barlow.

I am enjoying all the participation !😍😍😍
