Spyderco 2020 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming

So, who's buying a Pochi w/S45VN steel and Ti scales when it's released?

Gotta give Spyderco credit for continuing to come out w/"innovative" knife designs. It's not for me but it would look interesting paired w/a Dodo.

Totally agree, not for me, but it is very interesting. Even kinda cute.

On the other hand, the 4" Yojumbo is probably a "must buy" for me:

. . . just because I can't resist a knife w/a 4" blade. LOL! ;)

On the other hand, a S90V Native Chief is a hard pass for me because the S30V NC that I already have is good enough.

The Canis that's being touted as an SD knife (always an interest of mine) and you can see some resemblance to the Yojimbo in it but I see no reason to buy one if you've already got a Yojimbo and I've already got 2 and maybe 3 if I buy a Yojumbo.

This next one is where I'm curious,

On the other hand, the SpyOpera is intriguing, despite having only a 3 3/8" blade because the blade is made w/M390 steel and because its a lionSteel design collaboration made w/Ti liners and brown canvas Micarta scales plus a deep pocket wire clip.

What I am curious about is that it's M390 and LionSteel design, made in Italy --- how will the heat treat/hardness of that M390 be? Some very soft M390 has come out of Italy on some of the Lionsteel traditionals if I'm not mistaken.

Will definitely give the SpyOpera and Yojumbo a close look when they materialize but I'm still waiting to see a Siren offered on Spyderco's website where as an OpFocus member I am waiting to buy it.

I'm interested in that SpyOpera too, as far as looks - it's a good looking knife to my eye.
The Rockjumper has my eye because of the handle - which is reminiscent of the Stretch I that I so dearly love.
We'll throw in a few of those K390's too - Delica & Dragonfly, for good measure. One, or both, maybe.
And I'm interested in the Swik too,

u.w.

Anybody know if the K390 Delica/Endura/Dragonfly models are Sprint Runs? I'd love a K390 Delica and Endura
K390 endura is a home run! I will suggest this to so many people. Sal, Eric props to you and your team. Stay safe and keep up the great work! And... request of the day: K390 Military with throwback fluted titanium or aluminum!

Quality goods are always in short supply. **snip snip***

I disagree. From sunglasses to tools to vaccuums to bicycles, you can find quality and availability everywhere for many things. It's why places like Walmart Harbor Freight do well--a lot of people prefer cheap garbage rather than quality. That's fine. Maui Jim sunglasses, Snap-On tools, Dyson vaccuums, and Trek bikes can be had all day long.

on_the_edge on_the_edge I would not consider those brands/products you mentioned high quality, with the exception of Snap-On hand tools (no thanks on their power tools). They are all mass produced consumer goods of medium to low quality depending on where in the product line you purchase, but that is just my opinion.

That Shaman sprint looks godly. I have yet to score a single shaman sprint so I still haven't owned one. Spyderco could and possibly should increase production capacity and numbers of sprint knives produced for ample stock for at least a short period of time for limited releases. A window of time to fulfill demand would go a long way to ease tensions IMO.

As noted in the reveal thread I've pre ordered a Swayback. That was at Blade HQ where all of the reveal knives are up but not all of the reveal knives are tagged for pre order. My thoughts on that would be that the ones you can put your name on are the coming sooner ones.

For anyone doing their wishlist I would tag a few places for the instock alerts and if you've got a regular spot you shop at and can start a pre order at I would do that.

Just to be sure I can at least try one sprint run of Shaman, I will still get a rex-45 burnt orange, which hopefully will hit the dealer very soon. I will also try to snag a z-wear Shaman but highly doubt about my luck. K390 Delica is a must. S90v/CF Chief is a maybe.

I just ordered 3x Endura K390! A friend has been wanting his first knife. He”ll be spoiled with this one.

I remember the kerfuffle surrounding lionSteel and their m390 from awhile back - it got a wee bit nasty. That said, though I don't recall anything being determined conclusively other than that it fell within whatever lionSteel's specs were at the time, I can only speak to the experiences I've had. I've had several lionSteel folders with their M390 and I've never had any problems with them. But I also haven't used them to split logs or cut hundreds of pieces of paper in one sitting, so your mileage may very well vary.

I would assume that with a reputation like Spyderco's, they will demand the very best.

I find it a little disappointing that new Salt knives are not coming out in LC200n. Pleaaase make the lineup, especially the dragonfly and salt 2, in LC200n.

If Spyderco made ALL of the salt line in LC200N, what would happen with the people who want H1?

In my case, I specifically wanted H1 over LC200N in a Salt 2 due to how the knife will be used.

Based on @Surfgringo ‘s experience and write up on the Spyderco house forum, it really seems like LC200N is matching H1 for corrosion resistance but LC200N is way ahead in edge strength and edge retention. H1 may soon become yesterday’s salt water steel.

I have a new Siren and it’s a peach at the beach.

In my case, my new H1 Salt 2 will be used for pier and shore fishing. The apex of the edge along the tip and belly, will come into frequent contact with cement and rocks.

Between LC200N and H1, for these purposes, the edge retention will be exactly the same, specifically that's exactly 1 cut against the cement pier or against a rock, which I do try to avoid.

With H1 for this purpose, the overall durability was what I was after. Had LC200N been my only choice, I probably would have continued to use and destroy disposable folders by rusting them through one after another.

I think LC200N is better in the kitchen, or EDC, than it is in the field.

In 2018, on the subject of LC200N vs H1, Sal said this:

I don't think it's as tough as H1.

I think for cutting stuff on concrete or rocks I would bring a Mora Companion!

I thought about that. Generally a fixed blade would make sense, however with a Smith & Wesson 9mm on my belt in the place where I'd have to put a fixed blade, it would be in the way when I cast. We're talking 100+ yd casts, every cast. Heavy lures, 9ft rod. We're not talking about the kind of fishing people typically think of.

Also, being that a fixed blade rides in a sheath, I'll be filling the sheath with blood.

This is the setup that solves all my problems for this task, and there's several that I have not mentioned.
