Spyderco Air

I remove clips from my knives. It's nice to be able to buy one that won't have the empty hole/s where the clip was. This one has really caught my eye, I am sure I will own one. Great looking little gentleman's folder.

Thanx for your intererst in Gayle's new model. He did a very nice job with this design.

CPM-M4 is Gayle's preferred steel.

Gayle designed the knife to be clipless. Eric, Gayle and I had discussed (at the SHOT show) adding a wire clip, which is why Gayle mentioned it in his video. In the end, we decided to make the model as designed. If the demand is sufficient to add a clip, Eric and I will design one for the model.

Thanks for considering adding a clip Sal...that would be great! I would even buy 2! ;)

The Air looks fantastic!

I think I'd like it a bit more in VG-10 or CPM154 with a wire clip, though... :o

IMO a clip seems to just add unnecessary bulk to a slim, drop in your pocket folder. It would be like adding a pocket clip to a ladybug or honey bee.

Love the design and materials. For those disliking the scales it seems a prime candidate for aftermarket work.

a wire clip would keep it firmly in my pocket for the rest of my life. your cpm m4 is my favorite steel, and i am a sucker for wharencliffes and those handles. that would complete the package. you can always take the clip off very easily.

and this is of topic but i really want to try some spyderedged cpm m4. two of my favorite things. but not on the air, that blade will slice so cleanly and sharpen up with alot of ease.

Yep absolutely off topic but... they are two of favorite things as-well. I sure would'nt turn down an M4 SE blade, but in my experience what M4 excels at is push cutting. Yet I've found the same cant be said in regards to it's "aggressive slicing" abilities which SE blades are so often renowned for. For an ultimate SE blade I want S90V.

I'm looking forward to this knife. Nice small but useful size, I like the shape of the handles and blade. To me, the absence of a clip is a plus: thin profile, nothing to interfere with the handling of the knife, and no disfigurement of the scales. Hope the drilling of the scale material is cleaner than it was on the Lum's Chinese folder.

I definatly need a pocket clip for this knife... its easier to take one off, rather to put one on

no clip would be fine if it was a lockback or slipjoint, but I don't want a linerlock shifting around in my pocket.

You may have a point, here. However, I've been carrying linerlocks for many years, clipless, from many different makers, and never had such an issue. On the other hand, I've had a Ladybug opening in the pocket, but it was attached to a key chain with many keys and other garbage, which is what must have caused the problem. Nonetheless, I think you have a valid concern.

Trouble is if their was a clip people would complain about not having their favorite tip up or tip down option. Then the leftys would chime in. Before you know it you will have such a small beautiful knife
ruined with holes sticking out all over. For a knife this size I would prefer no clip.

Anyone have photos or clips of this knife in hand? Stuck on my phone so my google-Fu is weak.

I promised I'd buy no new style folders for awhile, I've been on a traditional kck. But I can't pass up a clipless, cf, CPM m4 wharncliffe! Looks amazing. Six months ago I would've ixnayed a clipless spydie. But this could be a real treat.
