Spyderco Bushcraft knife

I had thought that he only uses it when in certain countries due to knife law restrictions.

He used it in Australia....and since Mick Dundee was famous for a very long Bowie knife and the Bush Tucker Man uses a Parang often in his TV Shows...I don't think that was the reason...plus on the Busse Forum there are a lot of guys using those large fixed blades in Oz...so I doubt it was to do with legalities. I had thought about airports and travelling....as to whether this might be a reason...but as far as I am aware if the knife is in your checked in case it does'nt matter...any knife is prohibited in carry on luggage so no need to drop down to a folder there....so again I cannot see the legal restrictions as to why he chose to use one.

It could be simply a business call....he knows he cannot sell Woodlores quick enough due to waiting time...so he chooses a mass produced folder and then puts it up on his web site....sales of the TK4 went through the roof over here.

I have known him to use a Mora for the Jungle due to O1 not working well there and with the Antler Handles on his knife I did hear he had experienced some problems with them cracking due to the wet and constant heat....he certainly sells a lot of Mora's on his site as well as the TK4 though:thumbup:

It may be that RM simply wanted to show that you can do an awful lot with what is simply in your pocket....and that there is no critical reason to feel you need one of his designs to be able to get by....that feels more likely to me than the "business" aspect. He does'nt strike me as being calculated like that...where as he would want to make the point that you don't need fixed blades to be able to "survive" in any situation...and if you simply carry a lock knife you can be confident with it.
