If we were to consider making a run of a model in D2. What model do you think would be worth the effort?

My personal size would be Delica. I'm sure you'll get alot of votes for the larger Endura's, Military, and Police models. I dont own a knife in D2, But I really like my VG10 Delica.

Military.

(I'd vote for the Chinese folder but then I'd want a different handle material too - canvas Micarta or G10.)

I second the Delica (D2 plain edge or combo edge:cool: )Micarta handles . Boy after seeing the Goddard again it will be just like that!

While ramping up for the Paramilitary, why not D2 on at least a few hundred. I've been waiting for this baby and D2 would be a great addition.

D2 Chinese with G-10 sounds pretty tasty to me as well. Good one Carlos.

Sal, bring back a special run of 500 each of the Calypso and Calypso Jr. in D-2. Those knives were the absolute best slicers that Spyderco ever made. I know they are not in production, but I assume that the tooling to make these knives still exists, please consider it.

Tough Question, and a really cool idea!
After flipping through the 2003 catalog, it is still not a question that is easy to answer.

Couple of thoughts.
Most D2 blades are not completely polished. The steel is just too damn hard to get all the grinding marks out of it, so unless Spyderco is dedicated to putting some extra work into it, it might be a good idea to stay away from those designs that are the lighter duty, people friendly blades. Those designs don't really need the extra strength anyways.

Any of the MBC, or fixed blades would benefit from the extra strength of D2.

So would any of the designs with thinner tips.

Military. Standard version, no colored scales, no special ornamentation, just pure unadulterated matter-separator.

Lots of good suggestions on models, as well as bringing back some limited runs of expired models. My primary suggestion would be to make the D2 blade flat ground to optimize it's cutting ability, IMHO.

I'd buy that.
Great idea.

#1 Military: I would also consider a color and lock change for this run.

Others: ATR, Chinese folder(with handle change as Carlos mentioned), Large Calypso, or Lil' temp.

I say go for the Para-Military. My real dream would have been to use the original Chinook but I don't see that happening.

 The MILITARY.

IMHO, the Millie, with grey or green G10 scales, would definitely be

"the One"

.

My vote is for the Chinook or Police. Because of its fine tip the Police could use a tougher steel. The Chinook with its tough image would be even tougher with D2.
