Spyderco D2 model?

Unless you've found that D2 can significantly outperform S30V or CPM 440V, I would say - don't make one at all.

If the performance is that good, I would say - the Chinook II.

Calypso (to bring it back)
Chinese
Military/Lil Temperence
Moran Fixed
Chinook

A delica or native would be nice, but I think it would be a little gimicky - put it in a heavier folder where the D2 will shine.

Without a doubt the Calypso Jr.

I'd be happy with the FRN, but G10 or a more rugged (grippy) micarta would be dreamy.

I'll take two. Or three.

Thank you.

Failing that any of the flat ground models (I like the idea of Chinese with G10).

Thanks for asking.

Gotta agree with the Calypso Jr. here. It's a great little cutter that could use a little added toughness. ('Sides, I'd love to get my hands on another li'l Calypso!)

I'll also chime in along with the others who'd like something other than FRN for a handle. All my current spydies are FRN, so it's not like I have some kind of bias against it, but Spyderco's first D2 knife just begs for something more... substantial.

My first choice for a Spyderco with D2 blade steel would be the Miliatry model. I must say though, a Chinook or Native III with a D2 blade would be a must have for me.

I don't see much advantage in D2 over the top end steels Spyderco is now using but I'd buy a D2 Calypso Jr. with G-10 scales just to have a Calypso Jr. with G-10 scales :)

Well as for a current design I agree with a lot of the people the Delica. As for dreaming the Calypso Jr. would be awesome.

As much as I like the idea, I don't think Sal is looking to resurrect an older pattern. I think what he's looking at is just substituting a D2 blade in for the standard one on a current production model.

IMO, perhaps it would be best done in one of the models that are soon to appear such as the Para-Military. Offer it in the S30V that I imagine would be standard, but have a D2 option.

Another one that I'd really like to see is the Spyderfly in D2. It would be a great way to introduce both the model and the steel.

The Calypso Jr. Reborn with D2 blade and G10. This would be a fitting tribute to what I consider to be the best EDC ever created!:D

If this is not to be, then at least let it be an ambi model. I won't carry anything but fully ambi knives.

Sal, bring back a special run of 500 each of the Calypso and Calypso Jr. in D-2. Those knives were the absolute best slicers that Spyderco ever made. I know they are not in production, but I assume that the tooling to make these knives still exists, please consider it.

THAT IS THE BEST IDEA I'VE EVER HEARD!!

Gotta make a Carbonfiber, D2 Police, with boron carbide coated blade! Sal, I am telling you, if you made this knife I would love you forever!!!!!:D :D

I'm a fan of the native, and clearly the military has enough of a following that D2 would find a happy home there... though the run might sell out before I got my hands on one.

But attached as I am to the spyderfly, I'd have to say that an introductory run in D2 would send the bali nuts into a frenzy. (heading over there to get em over here to vote :))
