Spyderco D2 model?

The as yet, unseen balisong. D 2 has been my favorite blade steel for decades. Have one bali with D 2 thats 20 years old, not a speck of corrosion to be seen.:)

How about the Perrin bowie? I think thats an excellent shape for making a D2 blade from - I'd rather see the D2 in a fixed blade than a folder, and I think the Perrin is ideal. I've got a custom Steve Mullin fighter in D2 thats a larger clip point blade, and having a slightly smaller D2 fighter like the Perrin would be most excellent, IMO.

So what's the word? Is Spyderco still considering this? If so, could you steer us in the right direction? Could we resurrect an old design like the Calypso Jr.?

Can we get the Calypso Jr. back? I plan on buying a VG-10 one soon...but I would sure love to get a D2 one as well.

I am amazed and gladdened to see such an outpouring of support for my favorite knife as has been shown in this thread. The Calypso Jr. is dead; LONG LIVE THE CALYPSO JR!

I vote (again) for the Calypso jr. However, I'd like it in S30V rather than D2. S30V is far better IMHO.

screw you dialex, tan G10 scales with the D2 or S30V... either way I am in for a new colour combo :D

Hands down, Calypso Jr. with either carbon fiber or G-10 handles :) It's gotta be the ULTIMATE cutter!!!!! :)

I'm a huge fan of the Dragonfly but nobody else has voted for it, so I'd go with either a Delica or Endura - espcially if it was a special edition with G-10 handles. D2 is a good using steel, it should be on a model that a) gets used often and b) doesn't already have a number of blade steel options available.

As for questions about D2 vs S30V and 440v, I have one knife in D2 and while it's less corrosion resistant than anything I've had in 440v, ATS-34 orBG-42, it will take a wicked edge and hold it longer than my ATS-34 knives and about as well as my 440v Starmate and the BG-42 Sebenza I used to have. Just my personal experience after plenty of use (no scientific card board cutting tests, etc).
