Spyderco Endura4 or Delica4

I think what Marcinek was getting at was not that you should post the same thread in the Spydie forum, but that you should look through the forum to find the information you wanted that had already been posted by others, without having to wait for people to reply.

Those threads may give you some information.

9 threads in three days. Literally, take some time and read rather than post.

Thanks for useful information, JC! I am still new to the forum, but these oldbags think they are all that because they spend their life on here :')

I do own a Delica and it's a fine knife. I don't own an Endura but based on the pics I have seen comparing it to the Delica, it's too big for my needs.

I don't have any pics or much in the way of stories, except this one I guess. I have used the Delica before when doing some home carpentry work for cutting some carpeting tiles and as an impromptu draw knife to shave off some wood on a screen door I was hanging. None of that affected the edge significantly and it will still shave arm hair. I didn't abuse it, I used like a knife - to cut things and re-shape wood.

It's a good, light, thin knife.

This is exactly what I was looking for, thank you very much sir.

Old bags. Really? Just post less and read more. Gain some knowledge opposed to instant gratification.

Delica is my current EDC and I really like it. Its right on the border of of the minimum amount of blade that I feel comfortable with though. If you like blades on the larger side, it might not be big enough for you. The Endura is nice, but some find it a tad big. The Stretch seems to fall right in the sweet spot for many. Any of them will make a fine carry knife. What I like about them is the thin blade stock compared to many knives now a days and the light weight.

Thank you very much for your input. I actually prefer bigger blades. My current edc is 8.4". The haft is same size, bu the blade reaches just under 3.4". Endura has a longer blade.

I'm going to throw some "Salt" on this thread and suggest the Pacific Salt as well. Roughly the same size as the Endura but with the H1 blade if that matters to you for the intended use?

I looked at those too, but it seems to be a little more expensive than the Endura on amazon

Yes. Its a common "new guy" thing to:

1) Open threads too often; and/or
2) Open threads that they think no one has ever thought of before...which, often, have been opened and are already active and at dozens if not hundreds of pages.

Often doing those two enough gets people annoyed. Its happened many, many times before. Usually right around the beginning of summer.

But, I should have let him find that out for himself.

Post more, read less!!

The Delica and Endura are very popular knives among people who know knives for many very good reasons. Get which one you think is the better size for you.
No worries, people like him general don't last very long.... :D

Ok. I'm going to give you what might prove to be an unpopular answer around here. Get the Endura. I started carrying one in the spring of 1998. It has a molded clip, not the steel clip it now has. It weighs under 3oz and lays flat against the inside of the pocket, keeping it out of the way when you reach in to grab a key or something. It's more blade than I usually need but is no hinderance. It will never fall out of your pocket. After 18 years of mainly light use, mine is as tight as the day I bought it.

Now for the controversy. I consider the Delica to be a flawed design and cannot recommend it. It's smaller and lighter than the Endura, and it cuts great. I bought one for my brother, for use as a work knife, and he loved it. He lost it, when it fell out of his pocket when he sat down, later found it, and then lost it again when he believes it might have snagged on his coat as he removed the coat before getting into his car. People probably lose more Delicas than any other knife, except for maybe the CS Urban Pal. I think it's sized just right to be lost from the pocket. For 18 years, my Endura has stayed in place. So, get the Endura.

Joe

I have both but I prefer the Endura daily carry, but I also use the Delica for work, love the thinness on these knives. Both are ffg great slicers. Can't go wrong with either one. Simple design, love the lockback & the hole opening. I have other knives but keep going back to Spyderco, excellent company. Gary
