Spyderco Fakes & Knock Offs Info

Hi everyone, I just bought an orange Urban from knivesshipfree, and I noticed that the patent panel on the bottom of the box has been covered by a plain, white sticker. I was wondering if this is indicative of something, as I've never seen it before (although it has been a few years since my last Spyderco purchase, unfortunately.)

Sorry in advance if I posted this in the wrong place-- it seemed like the best place to ask since I didn't think it warranted its own thread.

Unknown....They came to us from Spyderco that way.

Hellow people, I'm new here, writting from Spain.
Recently I bought this Military from a private seller.
What do you mean about it?
Thanks in advance, it's a very good forum

So far they make fake:
1.) Southards
2.) Domino
3. Manix
4. Karahawk
5. Endura
6. Delica
7. Pm2
8. Military
And a bunch of others that I'm not super familiar with. It's quite sickening.

Got one fake southard from a private seller @ amazon last week for $175.
Yes, they dare to sell a fake CF Southard @ Amazon.
It was sold under the original description by amazon.

The titanium side and clip were not blasted and it was not brown g10. It was lightning strike CF.
The blade and action were surprisingly close.

Nuts.

I just ordered a CF Caly 3 in ZDP from Amazon. Have these been faked yet to your knowledge?

I haven't seen any Caly's with ZDP-189 on any of the knock off sites. Most, if not all of the counterfeits are marked with whatever steel comes on the regular production models. Especially since the ZDP is laminated, it would make it that much harder to accurately reproduce the lamination lines, so I'm pretty sure you'll be ok.

Well, I bought this THEN heard there are good fakes out there. Can I get a judgment please?

Thanks Jungle, it's bigger than I expected. I was concerned because the screw (don't know the nomenclature but it's the shiny one in the second pic) comes loose after about 10 opens.

The stop pin screws I think, you can use a little blue thread lock and tighten them as much as you'd like if you want to keep them secure. I actually keep my stop pin screws a little bit on the looser side. I find it allows me to tighten the pivot down a bit more to limit side-to-side play, but helps it rotate on the pivot a little more freely.

Have they started faking the fakes yet haha.

Yes they have.

Kevin Johns makes high quality knives and his knives are being ripped off by another company "over there" Additionally, not all fake Spyderco Para2's or Military's or whatever are made by the same company. So those are clones of clones of spydercos.

Anyone know what some good "tells" are for fake civilian. Wanting to find a good deal for a used one online, I know they are a popular faked model.

Theirs your first sign. You are diving into the faked market head first.

Their is a video online about fake civilians. I'm sure you can find it.

Tons of very suspect PM2s on ebay lately. I've been reporting them and ebay isn't doing a damn thing. Watched one sell for $140 yesterday.

Jimping angle. The clip. The lock cut out in the G10 isn't rounded on the back corner. I was going to ask the seller about the milling, but wouldn't you know it they don't respond to questions from buyers.

That bad boy is a fake for sure.
