Spyderco Fixed Blades - Opinions?

Yupp. If you take a close look at the blade and handle shape of Lums tantos you´ll see that they are pretty far from the typical tactical tanto. The curved blade is much more useful than, say, a straight chisel ground blade. They just don´t have the drawbacks that many of the tantos we are used to.

Check out the Lums at RCC:

A full sized Wegner would be the ticket. G-10 scales with some color. Option of kydex or leather sheath would be great. $100.00 range would be great. So when do we get to place our orders?

I'm not big fan of mbc knives. Spyderco has never advertised them publicly so the market is propably quite limited. New fixed bladed knife should be available to all - not to some lucy who are allowed acquire them.

If spyderco makes mbc fixed bladed knife this soon after entering in fixed bladed market(one knife) doesn't it look like (to the sheeple) that fixed bladed knives are weapons? First make some utility designs and after that the first mbc design.

Morans are hunters so there should be room for general utility knife. Puukko is natural choise for general utility. Make it two puukkos: one in about the same price as endura and one custom collaboration with B Lum with double the price of endura.

I have this worry about making a mainstream Spydie FB. Who would buy it? Why should they buy a knife that looks like three dozen others? I belive it is important to take the opportunity to make a blade design that stands out from the crowd, and that does NOT mean it has to be an aggressive design. The Lum tanto can do any task that a mainstream utility blade can and it still have the looks to charm the potential buyer.
A Spydie FB needs to be a superior utility tool but still, looks are very important.
Look at the Fällkniven F1. It fills the first criterea but the looks...?
It doesn´t have any charisma. I think it´s essential to pay attention to the carisma aspect.

I cant think of a more useful design than the Wegner.

Sal,
This is great news. I like a 5" blade made out of (1st choice)BG-42, shaped like Terzuola starmate with polished micarta scales with a slight index finger curve.

Sal- after this thread closes I would be interested in hearing from you on how the tastes/requirements/preferences of forumites are different than those of the general public. you mentioned several times that they were different, but in what ways?
thanks

I'd like to see a 6-6 1/2" drop point, 3/16" thickness, BG-42 steel, single guard, G-10 handles (no Kraton handles!). Satin or stonewashed finish (no beadblast or coatings, please) Concealex sheath assembled with Chicago screws. US manufactured. MSRP whatever is reasonable.

A Wegner Jr style in a Kydex slip sheath would make a great pocket or neck knife.
