Im new to this and I been watching alot of good reviews online about spyderco. Im considering getting one as my first EDC knife, I would like to hear your opinions on spyderco.

I want to spend around $50 or less... looking at the tenacious , endura or delica

Hey man i hear good things about all of them, Spyderco is really a stand-up company.. i mean there absolutley great... they give good prices considering the great knives you get for em ;).

if your looking for an "EDC" knife i would say the delica is ur best bet... its a lil bigger then a 3inch blade as oppossed to the endura's 4 inch blade....

now if size isn't an issue and depending on what kinda tasks u need done with it... u decide that for yourself... ask yourself do u need a 4 inch blade? or could u get the job done as easily with the 3 inch delica?...

your choice but i'd say between then endura or delica.. just think what you'll be doing with a knife and decide how biga blade u need...

Im looking for something less than 4" for EDC, since I think its illegal or pushing it here in FL to carry something bigger

Spyderco has some of the best, most useful designs in my opinion. If you're into them, I'd pick up one of those brand new flat-ground Delicas or Enduras.

Edit: don't carry a knife for defense... Don't let your choice of a knife revolve around self-defense. If you come into a thread posting that, chances are you shouldn't be carry a knife as a weapon (I know, I know, but you know better... =\ )

I been looking at the delicas...... but Im not sure if I like the cravings on the handle.. I would like something black and plain..something like the manix or tenacious handle..

so.. 3-3.5" blade.. with a more plain black handle

The texture on the FRN scales are really nice and grippy! If you don't like them though there are other choices for sure.

Since FL is a carry state are you old enough/eligible to pocket a pistol for defense?

I EDC a Spyderco Salt 1. I love it. I think spyderco has great quality and good prices as well. You cant go wrong with anything they got.

try to find a delica with the wave feature since you mentioned you will be using it for defense if necessary. It will whip that blade out so quickly. I currently have a tenacious with 2 zipties on the spydie hole that work as a ghetto wave. But stick with the delica it wont let you down. Im pretty sure if you look around you can find a delica with a g10 handle, i may be wrong i might be thinking of the rookie but keep your eyes peeled cause im not 100% sure on it.

Iam over 21, but I dont have a CWL...I been doing some reseach on knife carry and all I can find is that its ok as long as its a "poket knife"..

what do you guys think of the tenacious??

Tenacious is a great knife, specially for its price. The Delica/Endura have better steel, but they also cost about $20 more. The FRN handles don't look or feel quite as high quality as the G-10 on the Tenacious' handle, but it is a high quality tough material in use. Then Tenacious is a bit heavier for its blade length than the Delica or Endura, but not by much. Big fan of the Tenacious, only reason its not my main Spyderco is because I like the Millie/Para Millie more (but they also cost almost 5x as much).

All three are good choices overall imo.

Sounds like the Persistence is exactly what you are looking for. It's a mini-Tenacious.

From your selection I would definitely go with a Delica. My first spyderco was an Endura 4 wave and a great knife, although just too big for my edc tasks. Delica would be a great entry level knife.

Tenacious is also great knife for the value, a bit bigger and can really slice.

I have several vids on Spyderco knives [including the 3 your considering] if you would like to see other models.

if your budget is limited, look at some of the spyderco byrd knives, they are spydercos made in china line, but they are still high quality. since you want a knife that can be used for self defense, i would reccomend the g10 byrd crossbill.

Delica. I had the all stainless version and LOVED it. I returned it and got a Victorinox Swisschamp because it was more useful for me at the time. I missed it since the minute i returned it and got the Spyderco Caly 3 in Carbon fiber which i feel is a big upgrade from the delica 4. I still highly recommend that knife.

I don't think you should get a knife for self defense unless you've been trained for it. Any knife can be used for "defense", as they're cutting tools. But you really don't want to get into that big tangle of a mess if you use a knife on somebody...

self defense is going to be a last resort thing, plus chances are Ill have a knife with me more than Ill have my guns

I do like the manix, but it is a bit over my budget

Like I've been telling people: get the knife you like instead of settling for less just because it was cheaper and regretting it because it isn't really what you wanted.
