Not bad at all. I'd gladly take that.
Thanks, the thing is quite sharp for a factory edge. May yet have to track down a Stretch HAP40.

I'm the exact same. Never cared about the line. Has no functional difference, that's why.I've carried my Delica everyday for the last month and I don't think i've even looked at the lamination line. Oh, don't get me wrong....my ocd can act up over other stuff, (like blade play) but the line on the blade? Meh, they all cut the same.![]()
---of course now i'm going to have to go look at mine.![]()
I was surprised how thin I keep the edge on my Cara Cara in comparison to this new contender
![]()
Hi Rooster, it looks the opposite to me. Looks like the Cara Cara is thicker (sharpened at a significantly more obtuse angle) to me. Or when you say "thin" do you mean the width of the visible edge bevel?
BTW, I too have found the choil on the Stretch to be not quite deep enough for my taste. That was one of the things that changed on the new Stretch 2. Mine is arriving today and it will be the first time I will actually have a chance to carry and use this model. I am determined to give it a fair chance and plenty of carry time. We shall see.![]()
I agree with you, Rooster. I've wanted to know how to recreate the Spyderco factory edge for awhile. I can do the hair whittling, parlor trick polished edges too, but the Spydie factory edge has got to be my favorite. I'm definitely someone who uses their edge as long as possible before sharpening.
Hmmm? it "feels" thinner behind the edge which I guess is close to 30 deg. inclusive. I have attempted to thin the edge over time to a full flat (probably with a inevitable small convex, with a thin bevel edge).
I intend to pose the question in the maintenance section on how to get a manufactures edge as I'm curious how they get that toothy edge and have a bur free finished apex after playing with this Stretch. I debur on a paper wheel or a 1x30 leather belt and inevitably end up with a polished edge (perhaps a lighter touch is needed?). My polish edges cut paper and shave better that these factory edges, but these factory edges (like on my stretch) feel so sharp when giving them a three finger touch and I'd like to know how to achieve such an edge.
BTW, I love looking through your fishing photo's from time to time. Life looks good!

I like the clip point on this, how did you pull that off?
Check here. Give it a go...it's simple. http://www.spyderco.com/forumII/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=69863&start=80
