I started this thread over at the Spyderco forum asking for the ETA but I didn't get an answer. Sal did state this however:

He did also say this. :D :D This is the one I'm looking for.

Hi Bayoublaster,
We do have a model in prototyping with a Walker linerlock. The same as the Samariton auto, but without the spring mechanism. Made like the Millie.

Dang that Utility H1 knife looks awesome for kitchen use :D I will be watching that one.

While I like the looks of that Schempp chopper, I have to prefer the four Hossom collaborations Spyderco is about to release on an eager public.

Hossom's designs are brilliant, and I'm extremely happy to see Spyderco offer his work to a broader audience.

Basically, Mr. Hossom rules!:D

The dive knife caught my interest. I wonder if it will be in H-1 steel and also am curious to see the sheath. I like the design of the salt and Pacific Salt, but I find a folder really inconvenient for boat work and in-water work. I either don't have pockets, or my pockets are covered by a PFD. A nice clip-type sheath that can be attached to a PFD strap and tbe speed of a fixed blade works best. I would buy the dive knife in a heartbeat! Congrats spyderco*

My folks always taught me that there is a difference between wanting and needing something. I NEED one of those Samaritans!

Yes, the dive knife is in H1. Pics of the sheath here.

WOW. I was pretty disapointed with the new offerings from various companies. I shall now say that I'm really excited, altough I have no money..... :o

I'm definitely considering a Superhawk, although it looks like it'll probably be too big for my needs, and a samaritan, although I may not be able to buy one initially.

I can see how hotlinking without can cause financial problems for people owning websites who pay for their bandwidth. Thanks for the attention TOTTC. However, I do have an agreement with my provider in which I don't pay for bandwidth; I do for storage and that's another problem.;)

I intentionally posted the original pics of the amsterdam meet on the spyderco forum at spyderco.com. Both easier for me to manage and it gives credit to where credit's due; the spyderco meet sort of originated there and has the most participants present.

I do appreciate sourcing, so a link to where you found the pics originally is appreciated. Just to make sure, I made the pics of all the protos during the Amsterdam Meet this year, and that were posted on my site and this thread.

Discuss them all you want, Spyerco loves getting feedback on their designs. If I do get bandwidth trouble, you'll find out soon enough.

I believe Mr. Hossom designed this supposed chopper for camp duty. Isn't it 1/8th thick? That said it will make an excellent camp knife but maybe not such a great chopper.

The three largest are 0.200" (5mm) thick. The Dayhiker is 0.160" (4mm). They all have wide convex edges and will chop just fine. No "supposed" about it. :)

Thanks OldPhysics, that's very kind of you to say.

Right on OldPhysics,

The Forester, Forager, Woodlander, and Dayhiker are nice knives. I became a huge fan of Mr Hossom upon first seeing his Guardian Duelist. He definitely gets the big blade thing. That knife is pure genius. I bet that knife flies. I also appriciate Mr Hossoms confidence, not only in design, but quality of his blades.

The citadel appears to be a nice clean knife that will do well in my pocket, and even better out of it. Thanks for the pics men.

Cordially,
Arwr

I don't see any problem with linking. The only problem would be if you took the pics and tried to use them as if they were your own. Other than that, what is the big deal? No one is ever getting hurt by links. If I had a webpage, I would want as many people as possible to link to it. That is what it is all about right?

Anyway, it is going to be a good year for Spyderco. A lot of time, people see all the new models and say they are going to buy them but in a short while, the newness of the designs wear off and they don't sell as well as hoped. There are so many models this time that I want that I know I will buy more new Spydercos this year than any other. That Stretch and new Caly 3 are sure to be mine. I like the Citadel and the Samaritan. I only wish they were not autos so I could legally carry them.

There are a few that I am not that excited about. The fixed blade Salts look like cheap kitchen knives. The fixed dive knives look like cheap Frost dive knives. The acid etched knives look like cheap junk as well.

That is how I see it. I won't buy any of them but that doesn't mean they won't sell like hot cakes. The fixed blade Salts may not look great but I bet they work great if you need a fixed water knife. I am perfectly happy with my Pac Salt thank you very much.

I am probably going to buy about half a dozen of the new models. That is more than any other year so that is a good sign.

Those new Salts have gotten me excited! Anyone know when those are coming? I want a Utility because I'm sold on the ergos of the Vagabond, but I don't like the integral sheath very much.

Some hosting sites charge for how much bandwidth you use up, so if lots of people look at images linked from your website, since the images are being sent from their server to your computer, they slowly eat up you monthly bandwidth allowance. If enough people do it, and you go over your limit, you get charged for the extra.

Ed Schempp Chopper (why the hell is this H1?!)

Agreed!!!!

What happened to 3v? I missed something apparently. I read all the stuff about nitrogen hardening and whatnot. I really was hoping for a very high performance fixed blade, in light of the very high performance folders that I love so much!

H1 seems enigmatic in this application.

Actually H1 Is a good choice with extreme toughness and good edge holding ability. Ferro-nitride is technically in the ceramic family and has the ability to sharpen to the molecule similar to glass. It will preform very well in an organic environment. There is still a US made version planned...Take Care...Ed
