Yeah Mickey I agree...

Wait; what? Oh, that's right you have no idea what you're talking about.:foot:

Having personally owned a tenacious, byrd cara cara 2, byrd cara cara 2 rescue, and byrd flight I have to say all were very impressive in terms of build quality, held decent edges (all are 8cr13MOV steel for the blades) and had very tight lockup.

I've gifted all of them except for the Cara Cara 2 because I'm a nice guy like that.

Unless you've owned complete lemons Rickey I'm inclined to believe you have no idea what you're talking about LOL.

The Kershaw Leek is a $40 to $50 knife (yes you can find it for slightly cheaper on Amazon) that is made in the USA and it is vastly superior to Spyderco knives in the same price range.

I have owned Spyderco Ambitious, Tenacious, Persistence & Resilience. They are all fine knives, especially at their price points, well below $100. I have also owned Kershaw Leek. I would rather have any of the aforementioned Spyderco's over the Leek.

If you think the Manix is crap, you're delusional. If you think it's Chinese, you're an idiot.

You sir, have no clue what you are talking about. Ignore list just got one new member.

I'm before the lock :D
Anyhow, the Spyderco Aqua Salt, Street Beat, and the street Bowie are all made in Japan or America.

I believe all the Salt line is all <=$100. One of the most revolutionary knives ever made. Work hardening rust proof steel? Spyder Edge? Great stuff!

Out of 22 Spyderco knives in my current collection, only the Tenacious is made in China, and it's really a strong knife. I gave one to my brother in law, who is a mason in Brazil. He uses it for everthing, and it always has a coating of cement. He beats on it to chop through hard objects, and the blade has not broken yet. I sharpen it for him on occasion, and tighten the pivot, and that's about all it needs. He lost the pivot screw once, and Spyderco promptly sent me a replacment for free. Now I use a bit of the Locktite, to help secure the screw.

Ignorance is bliss. ;)

And there is no point in discussing things with people who resorts to name calling and profanities.

I won't call you any names, but I will tell you this. I'm a person that is a big made in the USA guy, and a small handful of products from Countries that are known for high quality manufacturers. I myself have never owned or handled a Chinese made Spyderco, so I have no idea what they are quality wise. I have owned their USA and Japan made knives and was always pleased. They have lines of knives for everyone and in various price ranges. If the Chinese made are not up to your expectations, move on to the higher end product In like all things in life, "you get what you pay for"

The only one in this thread that's truly ignorant is you; you've said nothing to substantiate your inane claim in the OP other than post a link to a definition as to what bias means...

Congratulations on accomplishing nothing.

I called you no names. In fact, you are the one calling me ignorant.

Your statement of fact can be easily disproven.

Spyderco knives below $100 these days are just chinese made crap.

We'll leave out the "junk" statement because perceived level of quality is opinion based. However, making claims about cost and country of manufacture, in this case spyderco knives under $100 and Chinese made spyderco knives, are quantifiable facts. They are inarguable. There is no opinion in them. So when you say all knives from X company under $100 are made in Y country, we can easily either prove or disprove if that statement is correct, IE if you know what you are talking about. So, Spyderco's line of Chinese knives are all under $100. There are only a few of them though. The number of spyderco models under $100 but not made in China is quite a lot. Don't believe me? Go count them. Its not hard.

In conclusion we see that Spyderco makes most of their under $100 knives outside of China. This would make your many statement of fact incorrect. This means you don't know what you are talking about and not one person should listen to anything you have to say because as we have seen, what you say cannot be relied on for accuracy.

The Spyderco ARK has a suggested retail price of $99.95 (actual street is usually about 30% less). It's the best neck knife I've ever seen, at any price. Not made in China.

The Manix 2 LW is my favorite folding knife ever. MSRP is higher, but it usually sells for ~$70.

The Ronin 2 is a compact, very high quality SD blade. Easily found for around $90.

The Street Bowie is another very purposeful fixed SD blade. I can find it for less than $100 from at least four of my knife sources.

Your statement is demonstrably untrue. Not only have I seen no "crap" from Spyderco, Chinese or otherwise (I have a Cara Cara 2. It's a little stiff since I haven't used it much, but is in no way "crap"), but several of Spyderco's knives easily found for less than $100 are some of the best examples of their types.

I'm not even a big spyderco fan but my black spyderedge pacific salt is one of my favorite knives:thumbup:

They are great

And seriously, the salt line itself out numbers the amount of knives spyderco makes in China and they are all sub $100 (maybe not the aqua). Just even the most cursory amount of research disproves the OP :)

I paid under $100 for each of these and they are neither Chinese, nor are they crap.

I do, however, find it amusing that youve spent your first moments on BF bashing a respected company, calling their products crap, and then proceed to (allegedly) preorder a Blurple PM2. Quite contradictory.

Okay so first addressing the glaring inaccuracy of the OPs statement. Many sub $100 Spydies are not made in China. That's even taking into account the crappy Aussie dollar and the way the importers gouge us.

2) Chinese manufacture does not equate to crappy. I'm not saying the OP intended to say that but it certainly read that way. In China, like anywhere, you get what you pay for.

C) The OP hasn't provided any evidence to back up his rather outlandish claims, or even given specifics. As the person making the claims (which in this case are also accusations) the onus is on the OP to back it up. Nothing said by he or anyone else changes that. A statement without evidence or explanation is simply a waste of everyone's time. It doesn't say anything about Spyderco but tells us a lot about the poster's credibility.
