Spyderco Lynx!

Sure am glad I got a Wegner. Haven't carried it yet. Probably would have had I not gone nuts and bought a Sebenza at the Tacoma knife show last Saturday.

I like hefty knives. But, have learned to like the Goddard Ltwt. So, guess I could learn to love a skinny Wegner. Really like the idea of 4 carry possibilities. Do wish they'd go for VG-10 for the blade. Or, 440V.

The Proto's would cost "a lot". But depending on just how many were made, does it get into production, number on the blade, etc, it could be worth much more.

I just hope that it gets produced.

Sal, How many proto's were made?

G10 and BG-42 sounds great to me.

Anyone know the proposed blade length?

When you say a lot, are we talking over $1000? Or more like $200+?

Assuming there are any protos left, I saw one at the show for a little over $300. I really would have liked it but didn't have that much cash left after buying other goodies.

Shootist,

I took pictures of the Lynx at the show after asking Tim if I could. He let me take a bunch of pictures behind the table. I asked him if I could post them on the web and he said it was "okay". He even gave me a spec sheet.

Hmmmm.... out of respect for Sal, I won't. But I agree with you that this is, IMO, the perfect design: Compression lock, BG-42 blade, G-10, screw construction and just the right size and feels terrific in the hand. Tim and Spyderco should be proud of this knife...GREAT design and construction!

BTW, I did ask about buying one of those prototypes and he was willing to sell one for his cost to produce them. If I could only get the money I would have one now.

I also had a great time talking with Sal, Tim and Vince.

Looks like a lot of attention. the design also received a lot of attentionat the Show.

1. OK, I'll agree to a pic posting, and we'll see if Jeff B & Michelle kill me.

2. If production occurs, it would more than likely be FRN/ATS-34. Machining the "pugs" is a major job and quite expensive expensive.

3. If production occurs, it would not be out before 2002.

OK- Now that Sal has given the word- let's see those photos please!
Thx-

Here is the pic I got. It isn't very good because it is behind glass. This will do until we can get Jeff's pics up. Jeff, if you don't have anywhere to put them you can send them to me and I will put them on my server.

As cool as the pugs are I could live without them to get g-10 instead of FRN. ATS-34 is fine, although VG-10 would be nice.

You can't always get what you want.

Love the blade sweep!
Pardon my ignorance, but what are "pugs"?
And why do they have to match?
FRN would be OK if that's the only option, but I would snap up a G-10 version w/ decent steel in a very big hurry.

Man, I hope the porotype makes it into production as-is. I would happily pay 2 bills for one. The lockup is rock solid, the pugs make the knife unique and add grip texture and FRN would flat out ruin the knife, IMHO. Keep it the way it is, PLEASE! I was sorely disappointed that the Vesuvius came out in FRN and the Lynx is such a terrific design that it BEGS for G10! Say it ain't so Sal!

"Pugs" are the litle paw shapes that are cut into the g-10. You can barely see them in my pic. If Jeff posts his maybe they will show up better.

They are cool looking and add texture, but if it meant G-10 or FRN I can do without them.

It sure loooks GREAT to me. I WILL buy it if it is ever produced.
FRN is fine as far as I'm concerned. Sure, I prefer G-10 if I have a choice, but the versatility that comes with being able to switch the clip is more important to me.

The pugs are the reason that my girlfriend fell in love with the lynx. Without the pugs, you better have purple G-10, or she won't be carrying one.

BTW, Simply awesome knife. Love the compression lock.

I'll post a scan or two later tonight. The Lynx is pretty sweet, much better over the original C48 design. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of the C48 but this new size, the addition of the Compression Lock, the finger choil, and BG-42 steel make a great design even better. The dog print G-10 is pretty unique!

Sorry guys for the late reply but I looked at the pictures and the flash caused the focus on this blasted automatic camera to blur in macro mode. You can see the pug marks and the overall shape but everything is out of focus. When will I learn? Man, I was so excited, I just pointed and shot the pictures!
