Spyderco Military vs Benchmade Griptilian

Based on the present choices I would go with the Limited Edition - Presidio in CPM-M4.
When they're gone, they're gone.

Just wondering why you feel the s30v is better steel?

It holds an edge longer. The grain structure is much more consistent. Spyderco's S30V is a higher HRC than Benchmade 154CM, and the 154CM seemed to roll easy. I've used the S30V a lot harder, especially to clean fish. Compared to the other exotics I have it sharpens up easy. Nothing against BM, I own quite a few. But pooping on the Military is nonsense. Ankerson nailed it, in my opinion.

I don't know why all of these of topic knives are doing in this thread. Grip against Military is a no brainer - Military by a mile! ;)

The 2 knives really aren't even in the same class really or even close to each other in anyway.

word of advice is make sure you want a 4" blade and over 5" handle before you put in the order. Back when I was choosing between Paramilitary and Military a few years ago, I liked the Paramilitary much better after handling both for awhile and trying them in pocket - wanted the smallest one that was big enough and loved the Compression lock.

Different place and do different things now - I'd pick the Military, but it's still larger than most really people want and you need to check them out in person.

I bought a Paramilitary 2 and decided right away that it was all I needed*. I love the Paramilitary 2, but anything larger just doesn't fit my needs. If I really need a 4" blade or larger, and sometimes I do, I much prefer using a fixed blade knife. I always have one or two fixed blades in my car anyway.

* EDIT: Not literally all I needed. What I mean is I don't need the Military. They are cool knives, but just a bit big for EDC or even infrequent carry.

The Millie is too big. It's too scary for sheeple. It has too poor fit and finish being a Golden knife (bit of a gamble every time). It's not even close to being as refined as say a Kershaw Tremor, Cold Steel Hold Out II, Benchmade 710 or even a Spyderco Resilience. It's basically a shitty, overpriced slob of G10 with a not so sexy steel and a crappy lock fitted to it. A horrible, horrible buy. Worthless. Snake oil.

But it's also the only knife that will make you feel like a kid playing with it. Or make you feel like a total badass when you're opening diaper packages. Everytime you grab it from your pocket and flick it open it feels like there should be a choir there going "AAAAAAAAAA!".

And that's why you buy it. It's the sexiest folder on earth.

Exactly. It's sort of like having a .44 Mag. Boarders on too much. But whenever I've seen someone use either for the first time there's always a grin on their face...

My Gold Class Griptillian would like to have a word with you.

I b/s/t a bunch!! Apologies if I sold you my Gold Class Grip & forgot it was you!! It was a NICE knife... but next to my Spydies, Sebs, Striders & a Burger Exkelibur... Um... I sold it!

I prefer a benchmade, I've had bad problems with Spyderco. Most spydercos have a thin tip and can break easily. And for the money you can make your own griptilian on benchmades website with different steel, blade shape, colors, etc.

Too easy: the Spyderco Military is my GOAT production EDC. The Para 2 would be more compatible to a Griptilian though. Especially if you carry tip-up (which I do not).
