• Happy Hannukah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all of you! Thanks for your continued support and I hope that your holiday season is a blessed one.

SPYDERCO MILITARY, WHATS THE TALK ABOUT.

This is really funny. A troller posts a negative reaction to the Military and he gets sixty replies, wailing and nashing their teeth. Sixty. And then: Oh, he must be a scurilous Benchmade cult member from Knifeforums.

He doesn't like the Military. He must be an imposter, a liar, an infiltrator!

Hee heee!

Contact me through private email for an explanation of irony.

PS - I think Sal Glesser is a saint. It seems to me that the man must be very like his knives: honest and good to the point of being utterly unique.

Benchmade cult member??? What does that mean. Ya know, I've heard that you refuse to buy BM. Is this true? If so why? I'm just curious. I DO NOT want another flame war. Thanks -AR

I'm new here as well, and I fear I may come on a bit strong in a few posts here. Sorry, all, I've been "out of the loop" with knives for a bit and it's been driving me crazy. I'll try to keep a bit more distance until I see how things work around here.

Much as I don't like to, I find myself in partial agreement with Steve.

Let's not turn this into a cross forums flame fest people. Stop being so quick to respond negatively to the trolls. Not doing so is what helps seperate the discussions here from the ones elsewhere.

We've been really laid back about rules so far, so let's all calm down and stop pointing fingers at each other, or laying blame without actually finding out the facts.

Jackyl and Corduroy:

I have evidently been grievously ineffective in my communication.

Please be assured that my observation was not directed toward either of you.

hello people, ok, im very sorry for being way to harsh in all my posts. I am just one of those hard-headed, need to see proof knife collectors. Every knife i mentioned on my posts i own, the Trailmaster, Spec Plus Bowie, AFCK, all Benchmades, Police, Endura, Military, SOCOM, and many more. My favorite companies out there are spyderco, benchmade, coldsteel, and microtech. To SPARK, -(Administrator for Bladeforums) im never going to "raise hell" again, i was to judgemental. By the way, to all wondering who i am, my name rage, the reason for this is i like the rock band Rage Against the Machine, hence i take the name Rage. My real name is Frank S. i live in NY, Long Island.-thats all your getting, sorry. To all the people i affended, please forgive me, and if you want to send me any comments or anything my addresses are below, thanks.

Apology accepted, rage (do you have a Che tattoo? I considered one when I was into RATM), I'm glad you realize that we are a bit more laid back around here, and prefer a non combative approach to our knife discussions.

Just sit back, relax, and ask whatever questions you have. I'm sure you'll find that everyone is more than willing to answer them.... to the point of beating them to death!

Lord knows I've been known to blather on about topics....

Apology accepted here to. There just seems to be a history of people using false id's to start flame wars on cutlery forums in the past and I didn't want to see that start here. You are certainly entitled to your opinions. I'm an extremely opinionated person and have to sit on my hands sometimes when I read some of these things. I hope that you will accept my apology if I was too critical. I try not to drive when I'm PO'd and I should try not to post at the same time. Hope to see you around here more.

In regards to Sal's claims and not offering definitive proof, I think that he is trying to be tactful (not tactical

). There are a number of companies right now running around (and running ads) claiming to be the best in the world--the ULTIMATE knife! I would like to see better testing, but it is possible to break any knife under the right circumstances. Sal got backed into a corner here and I believe that is the only reason the tests were ever mentioned. If someone could make an unbreakable folder then everyone would buy that one. As it is there are several companies (and individuals) that make products that are on the same level. I could destroy any of the super sheath knives (MD, Busse, CS, etc) with a few minutes in a good bonfire! Is there a reason to do this? NO. Makers and companies should stand by there product and its ELU performance rather than tests. Anyone that has done research knows that Stats are way too easy to finagle one way or the other. I commend Sal Glesser for not slicing Apples and Oranges in public! He's selling knives, we're buying and enjoying knives and that is the most important thing. Thats my dollar and 2 cents worth!

OK RAGE..Is it really that bad DUDE? I don't think I could name any other company that takes the time to realize they could make their knife better,(new improved)They listened to the customers! Other companies simply pull the model, instead of listening and doing..Spyderco is one of the most dedicated edged companies that will ever exist. Yea, nothing is perfect but the MILITARY comes close! Its not easy to make a large, strong, LIGHTWEIGHT folder...RAGE, why don't you pick up a STRATOCASTER and learn to play it,(no offense) I'm a guitarist and I love to rage too..

turn it up to 10,... I'm guessin you have plenty of life ahead of you to learn to rock! ANYWAY as I said in my first reply...Use the MILITARY for a couple years and see how it does. I bet you will find its a damn good knife, that won't let you down!!!

And remember, if you "rage against the machine" it won't feel a thing, cause its made of CMP440Vee...

Thanks for accepting my apoligies fella's, i will deffinetly be more open-minded and less judgemental. By the way, read my newest post "Don't flick your folders", you'll be supprised, i love my new toy.

Hey, Rage. I just got my new MIlitary(440V in plain edge)yesterday, and guess what? I love it. It is the best balance between weight and strength that I have seen outside of my beloved Randall knives. Sal won't mind being compared to Randall, I suspect. If you would like to find out about Randalls, read the Bowie knife threads, especially the one begun by Chicahiro Ishida.

Rage, I hold no hard feelings, have fun in here.

Fuller, is there a time when you don't mention Randal?hehe. Maybe you should tell Randal to make a handforged folder(wipe that drool off!).

Rage - Thanx for the kind comments on the Spyderco forum. Thanx to the forumites for the mature thread. Besides, Rage, Forumites love a little "spice", but in the end, truth and understanding prevail here.

Cobalt - Sorry, I missed the Question first time through.

The Socom came apart at the pins. Just the way it should. the failure was not catastrophic, also a plus. The force exceeded "Safe for heavy duty" (over 500 inch lbs).

The Civilian in G10 (with liner) is running about 610 inch/lbs. Very formidable for a lockback .125 (3mm) thick. "Safe for heavy duty"
