Spyderco Mule Team Details

LOL, I actually meant to quote George's post right above yours. Sorry 'bout that. I'm glad you got yours ordered okay though, just wish I could get mine. :(

If they are all sold out, I'm offended. I watched this from the beginning, sent my contact information, and checked often. Now It appears they were just offered without reasonable notice, without contacting the people who made a commitment to make it work, and without reserving any for those who made the commitment. Is this true? If so, the whole thing was misleading and an excercise in months of empty anticipation. If this is true and there is no resolution to this then Spyderco has made me feel like a fool and a victim.ss.

Consensus seems to be that they only offered the first 50 for sale today on the site, more will be offered tomorrow or later. Keep checking.

+1 on the irritation. I would've liked a little more advanced notice since I sent my email for the Mule Team list. Plus, it defeats the point of the project if these get buried in someone's collection. The mules need to get used and people need multiple versions to make comparisons.

The irritation is tempered a bit by the technical and logistical difficulties of making this project happen at all. I still appreciate Sal, Kristi, and co. actually following through with this.

I just sent an email to the original address on the first post, asking for an explaination. If I jumped to conclusions, then I apologize and all is well. I kept looking for a notice in this thread on how they would be offered, but never found one other than SFO, soon. I'm hoping my attitude at the moment is premature and unjustified. We'll see. ss.

Wow, I just happened to be on the SFO site today, and saw it, and decided to splurge... consider me lucky!

I just ordered one at about 5:30 PM PST 1/9/2008 I think they are only putting a few up at a time.

In my opinion, you should wash your feet now. The first post in this thread states it is just a feeler to gauge interest.

As others already stated; only 50 have been sold today; you still have a chance.

This thread on the company website also addresses the Mules: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31293

Try not to anger so easily, it isn't becoming.

Thanks for the link. Now I can see that the rules were set a week ago on another forum. They would have been nice to know here too. Doesn't change much how I feel. ss.

After much irritation last night I got mine this morning. After participating in several threads and sending in e mails it was very irritating to see someone bragging about getting 4 and seeing the website showing the knives as sold out, especially after calling several times, including noon PST yesterday. I was relieved to see it was only the first 50 sold out, but before I knew that I was pretty pissed.

I just picked one up this morning around 7. I had sent an E-mail in around 3-4 months ago asking for a place in line for the series. I hope that the communication is better on the future offerings, if they do offer more, but at least I will be getting one. I still believe that this is a great offering and am excited. Please Sal, if there is a way, can I commit to purchase one of each grade of steel, Also is there going to be a sheath offered or should I have one made by one of the forum members?

Ordered mine today at about 2:15. Glad they are priced so reasonably, but did they really have to make them available at the same time all the holiday bills are due? ;)

apparently they were also two variations in finish...tumbled and scotchbrite

Where did you see this? I never saw any choices at least. I did see some pictures that appeared different, but I am guessing it was from the flash on the camera set to a different mode or a different angle.

A forum member went to SFO yesterday and was offered his choice, they apparently had a handful of these in a blasted finish, rather than brushed. Since there were only a handful, no choice for the rest of us. Is everyone going to get mad about that, too?

There were some that were tumble finished by mistake my sources tell me..... ;) ...... however no choice was offered on line. IF you happened to deal with the FOS directly...... some were offered a choice till they were / are gone.

This was a one time "mistake" not to be repeated...... just the "breaks of the game" ... so to speak......
:D

Personally, I could care less. That's not what this knife is for.

I'm with you..... I would hope no one would get mad about this... ;)

I would have appreciated an email announcing the release, as I signed up to be on "the list" over 9 months ago, and have been looking forward to the mules, and checking this thread often. I noticed a thread about the release in the wilderness & survival forum, of all places, and linked to the SFO from there. I got my order in, though, so it should be okay.

My earlier attitude was premature and unjustified as I stated I hoped it was, so my premature apology is also in effect. Now that I know the rules and the procedures, I'll follow them.:) Regards, ss.

ZH: Thanks again for the link. I'll lurk there to try and stay informed. ss
