Spyderco PM2 hype is phasing out....

I've had 6-7 P2s and all at "normal" prices. Traded them while they were (are) hot. I know I will get more at normal prices as well.

I haven't had a Para2 for about 6 months. I sold my user then for $125. By user it was basically new, I just carried it and changed the clip and cut some stuff. Then I see the prices going up and up, I even made a fun thread about it in W&C. Well, I just traded for another para2 and will be opening it up when I get home. I don't see that there is "Hype" as much as it is a fantastic EDC knife that every self respecting knife nut should have at least for a little while. I have realized that I wanted it again to go with the Military I just recently picked up (had 2 of those in the past that I traded away too).

Uh, no phasing out here...

Crap guys! the more I read this thread and look at the pics, the more you talk me into the Para 2 instead of a Sage 1! And just when I thought I had my mind made up about my next blade :D

Just gonna chime in, I had no problem liquidating a Camo/Satin PM2 to fund my upcoming buying spree come July 18th :D

What's happening on July 18th?

The Native 5 Spyderco forum knife and the new Mule team are being released. 0900 MDT at the Spyderco factory outlet store. There is a 40% discount code for the Native around somewhere.
Be prompt, they'll go quick.

Must you tell the whole world? Now estate4life knows. He's gonna buy all of them. :) It's already been announced, wasnt this about the PM2?

The question asked was what was going on July 18th. Jus' bein' polite. :)

I sincerely hope that the hype is starting to die down a bit. Made the mistake of putting one on back order. Oh well I hear it will be worth it.

Far as I can tell hype is alive and well. If you were to ask BF what's the best knife to skin a jackalope with at least ten people would recommend the pm2. Thread title should be; Supply curve beginning to approach demand curve.
That's a pretty awesome collection you've got there.

I don't think that "hype" is the best word to describe the Paramilitary 2, but the supply may slowly be catching up to the demand. I'm a relative knife Nooberator but I was able to get a #C81GPCMO2 online last week for $105 from a well known knife dealer in Eau Claire, WI. Funny part is that I had only started looking for a para2 and found a new one at a good price after a few minutes with Google search.

I've had an Endura and a Delica 4 for a few years. They're both good knives but the para2 blows them both away with subtle details, design, and overall feel. I don't think that the demand is so much "hype' as it is the Paramilitary 2 is a fine folding knife with good steel at a reasonable price. The action is fairly smooth for a new knife since I put a few drops of good gun oil on the pivot and lock.

My digicam satin came from the factory with the pocket clip set for tip-down carry. I have my other two spydercos set up for tip-up but the tip-down on the para2 doesn't feel too bad. I may carry it that way for a while and see how it works for me.

It look like Spyderco makes solid quality production knives.
