What profanity? There's none. I made simple observations to begin witH the members here WORKED VERY HARD TO TRASH EVERYTHING. Ask me if I give a shit about INFRACTIONS OR ABOUT A NUMBER OF MEMBERS HERE OR ABOUT THIS FORUM SUCH AS IT IS.

You must, since you keep typing.

I'll get the popcorn, this dumpster fire is shaping up to be modestly entertaining, but buddy, you're going to have to work hard, because the competition for Thread of the Year is already fierce.

Interesting read, mainly because of the tendency to talk past each other. Cash71 makes a perfectly reasonable point (however ungraciously), which is mostly being sidestepped. In his opinion, loctite, in this context, is a bandaid covering what could be better engineering. I've seen people say "that's how it's done in the knife world," or, "Spyderco makes great knives," or "loctite is used in various other applications, so..." What I haven't seen is a compelling argument that what he says isn't true. It's ok to say - "yes, that's true, but it makes more sense to use loctite than to go to the trouble and expense of designing and manufacturing a fastener that would never need it." (There may have been one person who came close to saying that). What seems to be rankling some is how important this is to Cash71, rather than the accuracy of his assertion.

My take on it, is the engineering is spot on, but it's the idea of being overbuilt. We want a product that won't need adjusting, that it will just work, every time. Thread lock makes this happen. Also notice, it's usually a tiny amount used, if engineered incorrectly it won't matter what thread lock you used, you wouldn't have the tolerances to hold long term.

So it may not be needed, as evidenced by some folks who strip the Loctite and don't have any issues later on, but also won't hurt a thing (yes unless it's red) to use it, and probably helps longevity.

I guess our definitions of profanity are different. In any event, you answered my question. Too bad. I had sensed that you might have something of value to add to the forum. Turns out I was wrong. Why not just take a deep breath, take the rest of the day off, and come back anther time?

Simply I don't believe something that's supposed to be " high quality " be required to use loctite to hold their screws in period ( for the 5 th time )

I wouldn't purchase one based on what I now know, the lousy screws is simply one fact among others, I never said the knife had "crappy quality" you did.

Come on, I'm supposed to believe the pocket piece is supposed to be stressed all the time, Are you sure we're talking about the same thing?

Loctite is used because the part doesn't perform properly, if you don't use it.

A company that uses loctite to hold their parts together has everything to do with the quality of their products, especially when they know the end user will be taking apart the product. If the company is amazing, as you say, then they need to be a bit more amazing and design a product that allows users to do what they must.

Are you sure you read what you write and if constantly flexing the clip it puts pressure on the screws. But yes you indeed spoke to the quality and design of the product.

I'm measuring my time here. A decent discussion may not be possible, with the type of out front members on this forum
