Spyderco Positron

... but s30v is 'meh' for me.....

I agree. I would sure like to have this in M390 or CTS204P. Maybe next year's variation...hint, hint..Spyderco...hint...

Still I am more pleased with the way the knife functions that I expected to be. For anyone wanting a small, light weight flipper, this is one to look at.

yeah I was also hoping for better blade steel but someone mentioned this before, it was probably to keep the cost of the knife low. I could see some sprint runs in the future, but it will depend how successful the initial offering is.

Is the blade finish satin or stonewash?
***EDIT*** Nevermind, it's stonewashed. Doesn't show up in all the pics.

I like the overall design, but s30v is 'meh' for me, and I don't understand the sloping plunge line which makes it look like it will be hard to sharpen the last 1/4" of edge (was it only included to improve the strength of the blade around the function-less trademark hole?).

I might get one eventually, but having recently bought a G10/ti Lionsteel TRE, I am not in any hurry to fork out on it.
I'm in a similar boat with a Kizer Laconico Gemini I purchased recently. And I'm wondering if the Positron would really do more for me than my custom Southard has. I've already got a boat load of knives with geometries similar to the Positron but I don't have anything that's similar to my Southard.

I'm still waiting to see some in-hand shots, boys and girls. :)

Yea - if I didn't already have nice 3" flippers and knives with sculpted CF handles, I'd be more excited about the Positron.

I also like the looks of the Gemini, but I'm not going to buy one at only 15% off full retail. If the street pricing comes down more in line with other Kizers, I'll get one.

I sent mine back. Unfortunately I couldn't see the quality. Way smaller and tiny than promoted. Clip and bulky handle create a huge hotspot and uncomfortable grip. The liner lock travels way too far over making disengagement a chore as you hit the pocket clip hotspot closing the knife. Action is okay but nothing great. I hate to sound so negative! I was so excited to get one...I've waited so long for it to release. You could imagine once in hand I was really let down. Only my opinion here, that's all. I loved the Southard. The stoutness and how short the handle is really didn't offer a great grip or purchase.

To each their own. I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment. I know it can suck to anxiously anticipate a new arrival and have it turn out to be different than what you expected. However, I don't really understand why you would say "way smaller and tiny than promoted". The measurements are what they are. I don't recall any promotions that stated it was larger than it is.

Good observation, Brummie. The Gemini isn't as deeply discounted as most of Kizer's other models are and I'm not sure why. It's a lovely knife though and I'm really glad I got one.

Even after the video review, the Positron isn't speaking to me. I think I'll pass . . . at least for now.

Got mine.

Part of the problem is that the flipper/guard reduces the amount of usable space on the handle when the blade is deployed. So you don't really have a full 4" to get your hand around even though the length of the Positron is correctly stated as being 4" when closed.

The Positron positively looks to be too short for comfort in my hand.

Can anyone who has one comment on the texture of the carbon fiber? Is it a polished smooth cf? I really enjoy the texture of my Spider Monkey and hope the Positron is similar.

The GP Knives reviewer told me exactly what I wanted to know.

I can't wait -- but I'll have to since I made the mistake of pre-ordering and that dealer is late in getting them. :(

Waiting on mine from CS after canceling my pre-order from knifeworks.. Never will I pre-order again.. Said it could be a couple of months before mine shipped.. Hopefully CS will get a shipment in soon! I'm excited about this little knife.. Appears to be the perfect size for my needs as an edc.. The only downside I see is the lack of a lanyard hole..
